Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies

5 Answers

HP has developed a 'problem' for me. They were updating in my computer this morning. I really don't want them in my computer because of all the problems they have caused & I had told them so at the time I purchased a new scanner. Two days later, my scanner had been obliverated. Anyway, I had to re-load my old scanner program for them because they 'think' that the CD software has 'Solution Center sci' in it. It NEVER DID. I have only ONE CD. They continue to tell me to 'find' Solution Center sci. I can not find something that I never had. I can not TELL them they are the creator because I am not in contact with them. This has happened many times since June & they have kept me from doing my work, which is very important. SO about 2 or 3 weeks ago I bought HP Scanjet G3110, thinking that would resolve my problems. Well it didn't. So here I am at the mercy of HP. In the process, they gave me your? website address. I do not want to go through a whole bunch of stuff when it is not my fault. Do YOU have contact with them? I may end up having to write to the corporate office & I am perfectly capable of doing that. But I will give you a try. Okay? Oh, I want to mention one more thing. My old scanner was really neat. It worked perfectly. But about the time I bought a XP Home Edition from them direct, they decided to change everything. I already had pictures in their program. Well now, there is nothing as important to them as a camera/scanner. I do NOT do that. I don't have a camera & will not buy one because I will not use it. My pictures are old - of past ancestry & I am trying to write a book & want to place the pictures in same. Well, they don't understand that. Now, my new scanner is not usable for my purposes.

Later I will re-post. I have no answers to the problems that were listed in my communications to you guys.

In regard that I might be able to help the others with their computer etc problems, funny. I have never heard of any of those kind of problems. I am home bound. Don't get out in the world.

The solution center they referred to is nothing more than a link to their website that resides as a program where one can choose customer support or link to their online store to buy supplies.    Do not use a third-party registry cleaner as they will say they have found dozens of registry problems that they will "fix" them for a paid subscription and is usually nothing more than a scam. Your problems will get worse with such bogus software.  Aside from those two points you have yet to state your actual problem with the scanner: "obliterated" is not a proper statement of a problem as you are our eyes. Please repost with a specific issue. Steve Medley

first of all download this and install it!

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean...

This is a registry cleaner and will help you to clear the computer of unwanted registry entries.

Uninstall all of the sofware to do with scanners and printers from programmes in the control panel,.
When you have done this and are satisfied that all the programmes are gone run CCleaner ans click on the registry tab, then check for issues, it will ask if you would like to save the settings to registry, you click yes.
Now restart your computer and reinstall the printer/scanner software. follow the prompts on screen and finnish installation
You should not have anymore problems from now on

    regards

What i would do is restore your computer to a earlier date before the update and then after it loads back up go to start, settings, control panel, add and remove software and look for the one that would say HP auto update and remove it and it should not update with out you click ok so it should get you back in shape / larry

Can't update my bios on hp pavillion a1010n??

Have you downloaded the right BIOS for your computer and do you really need to update this?

According to the HP support web site above the only version is 3.09 dated 21 June 2006 - if you already have this version, this may be why you cannot update it.

If your problem is that your computer is very slow, then updating the BIOS will not make any difference - you should concentrate on cleaning up and optimising the Windows file system.

Download and install the following utility programs that can help you to improve the performance of your computer.

Advanced System Care Free - run the Deep Care option of this utility.
DiskMax - run a Detailed Scan and let it clean up all profiles, updates, cache etc.
Smart Defrag - run a Defrag and Fast Optimize
CCleaner - use this to compliment the above plus use the Tools Uninstall option to remove any unwanted software programs, browser tool bars etc. Also use the Tools Startup option to disable any of the programs being started on every boot that don't need to be, i.e. things like QuickTime, Adobe Reader etc.

Help... My desktop was updated and I declined to install the update. It said it would affect the state of my computer that there would be some changes since I didn't accept... Instantly, everything on...

Start your computer in "safe mode" and do a system restore to back before the update. If it was a windows update, they are generally safe. The only ones you really might want to avoid would be a service pack update, of you don't want it, or an update to something like a video or graphics card. Try to look at your updates and/or check for updates, and install that update. You can always do a restore and/or an update unistall.

I have a hp pavilion dv9000t 17" Notebook Laptop

I seriously wouldnt be flashing/updating the BIOS unless you really have a need to. Some computers really dont like to work anymore after doing. If everything is working fine dont touch it. The only time ive ever upgraded BIOS is on older computers some of which wouldnt boot from CD or some wouldnt read large Hard Drives. Yours is quite a nice modern laptop dont touch it. Cheers from Scott and plz vote

Installed updates now HP printer won't accept refilled ink

HP does not recommend refilling thier tanks, their print heads are built in to the cartridge so if you refilled it before resetting the tanks you will have to go to www.hp.com and run the trouble shooting tool for free to fix your issue. you may have to replace the catridge.

Webcam on/off button?

I dont really think this is the problem ...maybe its an update or a bug ...try first to rol back driver on the camera ...just go to device manager ...and clik right ...properties..than driver ...and roll back ....if it was an update that went wrong this will fix it ....
if it says that there is no rolling back driver ..just get the camera driver in close hand..and un-install the driver ...and put it back on ...this will work for sure ...

What,s the deal with windows updates in Windows XP,i have a dell laptop with XP home edition. How shoul'd i configure automatic updates, does it need to be turned on automatic download and update 24/7,or...

What I'd do personally. If you have a broadband connection. Just enable the update program to update during the early hours of the morning. Say somewhere between 1AM and 6AM. This can be set so windows will automatically download, install, and configure the updates for your system. Remember, for it to be able to do this; the computer must be on.

This way it won't be a hinder to your every day internet usage, and it will do it's business while you're not using the computer. I have mine set up the same way and it's really nice. A simple reboot on some mornings is all I ever have to worry about and my PC is always up to date.
