I ran out of line--need to reload the spool.

I have a TB20CS (41ADT20C711) string trimmer that I inherited from my uncle. There is a package of 10' long .095 trimmer line segments (part # 49U0095K753). What is the correct procedure for adding new segments of line to the spool?

SOURCE: adding trimmer line to spool on husqvarna trimmer-two strings

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position. Put cap on and GO CRAZY!

SOURCE: Need info on putting line on troy bilt 4-cycle

Hold orange spool containing string while twisting the black plastic cap in the center, counterclockwise. This retaining cap is loosely spring loaded, so watch for the spring falling out. Once this locking cap is removed, the spool pulls right off.

The string on my spool ran out.

• Turn off the trimmer and remove the battery
• Press the release tabs on the line spool cover and remove the cover by pulling it straight off. replacement spool is AF-100
• Lift the spool of nylon line out of the hub and clear any broken line and debris
• In case of jams and tangled line unwrap about one foot (30cm) of line to ensure that it is undamaged. If it is OK rewind it and insert the line end through the eyelet in the spool hub.
• Pull the line through the hole to maintain tension while placing the
spool down into the hub with the notched side exposed.
• Press the spool down GENTLY and rotate it until you feel it drop into place. (When in place, the spool will turn a few degrees left and right freely.)
• Snap the spool cover back on.

Possible Line-Feed Problem

The notches are there to hold the line in place while you place the spool back on the trimmer. If you look at the spool, you will find, on one end or the other, an arrow showing direction to wind the string. Follow the direction and when you get the spool full, place it into the notch. Leave about 6" sticking out and cut it off. If you have a two string spool, just wind the other string as you have done the first. When you have both spools full and the ends in the notches, place the spool on the trimmer. As you start the spool on, place the string (or strings) in the respective holes. As you seat the spool pull the string that is the farthest in until it comes out of the notch. Do the same with the other string. Seat the spool and try your handiwork. Good luck...Lee

I inherited a Ryobi 14'' Electro Hornet, but do not know how to change the trimmer line - can you help?

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer: Then just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool. This may need to be longer than 7ft.

Reloaded string empties and shreds continuously in seconds

It sounds like you may need to replace the head. It is designed to advance and stop, but your's isn't stopping. Try this: Clean the inside of the head and connection to the machine well. Put some graphite inside the spool and where it connects to the machine; be generous with the graphite. Put the head back on with some line properly wound onto the spoo (note arrows on back of spool). With the machine off tap the head on the ground enough to disperse the graphite thoroughly in the head. Now, push the head as though to advance the line, and pull on the line. If it advances a little and stops, it is working. Do this several times to be sure. If you can get it working like this, you're good to go. If not, replace the spool. Even with the new spool, occasionally put some graphite in it to keep the line advance smooth!

Best regards, --W/D--.....Please feel free to rate this solution. Thanx!
