I have noticed that over the last few weeks while watching a cable channel we loose focous. If I changed to a different channel (nondigital) it would look the same. If I changed to a HD channel it would look just fine. So while on the basic cable channel I hit the flash button and it fixes the problem.
Now every station and every input on the tv is out of alignment. Red, green and blue seperation. After pressing the flash button the picture does not get better.
I have also noticed blue rainbows going across the screen. After reading posts here I adjusted the blue voltage knob and cannot get rid of them.(this is not as big a deal to me as the color seperation)
Also after reading some more posts I have pulled the d and g boards and tested all the pico fuses.( 2 on the g board and 7 on the d board)
Both IC's are marked STK392-560 (b2f21)
Does it sound like just the IC's need to be replaced? or just adjusted in the convergence menu?

Re: Colors no aligned
Hi Chin, Please check faded color resistors (in big size) on D board and also check dry solder joints on D board. If above seems OK then ICs STK-392-560 are suspected and needs to be replaced. Let me know if you need further info.

Need more details about how the screen is appearing warped.
if you have color separation and distorted image (warped, bowed, etc), then your Convergence ICs have failed. It is very common on rear projections. The solution is to replace the STK chips, check fuses and the resistors next to the STK chips. Replace as necessary and re-align via the service menu. It is about a $300 repair at a tv service center. You will need the service manual if you decide to do this yourself.
Try This: When you notice the symptons Use this simple test to verify. Go to the users menu on the tv. Look for the converge option probably under setup or video setting. Converge is short for convergence to align the red and blue colors to the green color.
If you cannot move the red either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for red section. If you cannot move the blue either horizontal or vertical, then the STK chip has failed for the blue section.
If you can move both in each direction then the problem is something else.
Note if one STK chip fails, you replace both regardless. Note: The STK chips are black about 3 inches long and will be mounted against a large aluminum heat sink (metal fins). They have about 20 pins on them. I believe they are STK392-560s in that set.
You can get a replacement U board at the following link which is most likely the problem as the U board has all the input sources on it. Look under the Sony parts category for the U board. They have the one for your model http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
·http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=24 ·Which models are affected with the "flicker" problem?
A1: There are 12 models in total: KDP57XBR2, KDP65XBR2, KP46WT500, KP51HW40, KP51WS500, KP57HW40, KP57WS500, KP57WV600, KP57WV700, KP65WS500, KP65WV600 and KP65WV700.
If the convergence is missing in the menu in screens, you have a bad reg ic on the convergence power supply the part number is 215530,the power supply is located on the black plastic above the right module with all the heat sinks
sounds like 2 different problems here.
first problem sounds tuner related.
second sounds convergence related.
third issue (cost effective to repair ?)
at this point i would replace the set.
i hope this helps
