Question about ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard

1 Answer

PC starts up, afterlogi n locks up. Afr restart no signal to moni

PC has an ASUS P5s800 motherboard. On initial startup it loads OK, after login it locks up.
1) If I restart the pc I get nothing onthe monitor except a warning that no signal is being received.
2) If i shut it down by holding in the power button, the num-lock light remains on even after shut down and pressing it will not switch it off.

The 'No Signal to monitor' message will keep coming on until I leave the pc for about five minutes, then it might startup OK, possiblely loging in and allowing me to work for a while before locking up again. Same process as before for restart.

I think the motherboard is going?

    Hi flightsimer,

Are you currently using the SiS onboard graphics or are you using an AGP card?

Remove the RAM from socket. Clean the RAM contacts with pencil eraser & then refit RAM.

Hope this solves the problem..

PC keeps on restarting

Power supply can be your issue , when windows boots from CD it a mear dos-mode boot , If it was motherbaord problem it wouldn't boot at all . If you move power supply to test the motherboard issue just make sure it enough power to boot the other motherboard ( some pwer supplies can boot all motherboards )

Boot failure

Try booting from a dos boot disk or windows startup disk, this will prove that HW is OK

then if it boots OK you may have a HDD problem.
