This problem is due overheating, and you say yo have a C2D with this mobo.... at intel site it said that this mobo works fine with intel P4, Pentium Duo an Celeron but not C2D. Its true that you have 800Mhz FSB and it will detect the micropro.... and work fine but the C2D will overheat the mobo for its need of energy and overheat it so it start restarting. I dont know how much that mobo is going to last but start installing all cooler you can....the mission is to cool down that mobo and micro...

Your motherboard has the follwing memory support : DDR2 533/400 SDRAM 2 slots, Single-channel (2GB2 Max). As long as it is supported by your motherboard there would be no problem since your processor is also supported by the motherboard.

Please refer to the follwoing links from Intel:

Restarting problem

Not quite sure what you mean, but if it is that the computer restarts suddenly while booting up, it could be indicative of a problem with the RAM. try taking one of the sticks out of its slot, and if it still doesn't work swap it with the other stick. Good luck!

HI I AM PRASAD.SINCE 2007 I USE D102GGC2 BOARD ALONG WITH CELRONE CORE 2 DUO PROCEESSOR.SINCE THE FIRST TIME I GET MEMORY LESS THAN 64MB ACTUALY.MEANS THAT IF I INSERT A 512MB RAM I GET ONLY 448MB...

hi prasad, u r getting a lesser memory because you motherboard consumes 64mb for its shared usage... this is common, certain motherboards comes with a builtin shared memory, some does not...
right now the SMPS on your computer might have gone bad, u can check with a different SMPS... Sometimes even the board might have shorted, in this case you can service ur board... it may costs around Rs.400

CONFUSION WITH INTEL CORE DUO AND INTEL PENTIUM DUAL CORE!

You are worrying about nothing.

Intel Pentium Dual Core and Intel Celeron Dual Core are both Intel Core Dual processors.

The performance rate is mesured compared to a single core processor so your 2.2GHz dual core will do the same amount of work as a 4.95GHz single core.

F672cr(m1610)and intel core duo?

The Acer M1610 was available with the following processors: Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Pentium Dual-Core, Intel Pentium D/4, Intel Celeron D/4 2.0GHz.

Based on this information, It is likely that you can support a Core Duo or a Core 2 Duo, however may be limited to the 2.0GHz models due to clock and multiplier limitations on the BIOS. This may be different if there is BIOS upgrades to support faster processors.

Your best option of the above listed processors will be the Core 2 Duo, however their system specifications report that only the Core 2 with 800MHz or less Front Side Bus are supported.

Also note that the Celeron 430 is a 64bit processor, so it is not likely to work on this system either.
