Question about Western Digital Caviar SE 120 GB Hard Drive
I put an 80 gig WD harddrive into an external converter unit. I plugged the unit in (always worked before) but there was a short in the wiring of the converter. I smelled a bit of burning, noticed that the hd was really hot around the center of the circuit board. Since then I have not been able to access the harddrive. I've tried a data recovery program, and also partition magic but neither program recognizes that there is a harddrive. I wonder if getting another circuit board for the harddrive would solve the problem, or would one of those even be available.
WD Caviar SE
Simply find a harddrive with the exact same model number and date, then swap the boards.
