I have a the presonus firepod and went to use it and no power. I checked all the connections and they were fine. I had recently installed a Reason program and had cleaned up my hard drive on my MacPro the night before. The next day the prsonus did not power up. No lights etc.

Mine dead stopped turning on one day and I found the solution. You will need a appropriate sized phillips scredriver, a head lamp or LED keychain that you can aim from your mouth, a slim flat head screwdriver, and some skinny needle nosed pliers.

-- unplug it.
-- Unscrew/remove the right side panel, on the side of the AC connector (I don't advise opening the entire box as it was a bit hard for me to get back together)
-- fire up your light source, you'll need it!
-- *looking at the now open unit form the open side* you will see the green mainboard horizontally across the bottom.
-- *key in on the near right corner next to the small clear tube fuse*
-- the part that is having problems is the wire lead that has a small white vertical plastic connector, (near right corner next to the fuse) (it will probably have a white "tab" coming from the connector that is slightly out of place)
-- take the needle nose pliers, gently grasping the plastic connector on the wire side, and disconnect the wires from the mainboard connector. (may help to use the slim flat head driver to help dislodge this).
-- once it is disconnected, use the slim phillips to realign that white "connector tab" and slowly (making sure to not bend the pins) re-connect that wire piece with the mainboard connector.

Plug the power in and try flipping it on. Hopefully this fixes it for you. I have had to do this about every 6 months over this last year, but its cheaper than buying a new card!

I need a power usb cable

You need to purchase a mini-din USB cable. The unit gets it's power from the PC USB port.
The cable is an off the shelf item at most computer or office supply stores.

Have you been able to successfully do this in the past? What software are you using to try to record with? Does it seem to recognize the guitar in the software, just will not react, or does it not appear to see it at all?

Thanks, let me know and I can help!

No power! The same thing has happened several times in the past and after opening it up to check the fuse and putting it back together it miraculously worked again. This time,,, no luck. Any suggestions?

Actually, the problem is the little white connector next to the fuse. Mine dead stopped turning on one day and I found the solution. My Win7 does not recognize my 2005 Firepod, when i get to the point that it tells me to connect it and turn it on, it does not continue installation, it just keeps repeating for me to plug it in and turn...

Win 7 is probably incompatible with the Firepod. Others find the same thing and unless the Firepod manufacturer writes new drivers, it will not work with Win 7.
Probably the best course of action is to go back to XP or the previous OS you have used with it.

NEVER switch operating systems without checking that hardware and software is compatible with the new OS.

Microsoft is notorious for incompatibility of new OS versions such as Vista and now Win 7.

Tv won't turn on

Try plugging something else (a lamp?) into the power-outlet, to see if the wall-outlet is providing power.

Try plugging the TV into some other "known-good" wall-outlet.

Take the TV to a repair shop, and have them trouble-shoot.

Not being recognized

Same exact thing happened to mine, sent in for repair, cost me $30 to ship it to them plus they $85 to repair it, and it still doesn't work.

Presonus hasn't done anything about it. Put your $ towards something new and MADE IN THE USA.

Could be a bad cable, bad firewire card in computer, or the unit is damaged.  Might want to connect the unit to someone else's computer with a new Firewire cable.  If this doesn't work, chances are that the unit is defective.  I have the same problem right now and I'm having to send the unit back to Presonus.  They charge $85 for parts labor and the return shipping.  The replace the entire board, so it's like getting a new unit.  Hope that helps.
