Question about Computers & Internet

Janome MC8000 Machine makes a grinding noise when turned on, and then I get a "stepping motor error". Machine will not sew. Husband is an engineer and will likely be able to repair the problem but we need to know where the stepping motor is located and how to fix it. Nothing is mentioned in my owners manual.

Hi again and welcome back to FixYa.

It is nice of you to remember. To your concern, possibilities are:

  • if the grinding noise is coming from the bobbin case area, then pls ensure that nothing is stuck/caught there, it would only take a small foreign object to trigger the problem; or
  • verify that the embroidery carriage in its parked/original position;
  • there would be a sensor/switch that tells the computer that the embroidery carriage is back. Pls check that if the carriage is back and see if you can check the sensor/switch;
  • worst case scenario is that the controller's circuit board is faulty. In some case, it could just be the wires or connection leading to the controller board.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa again. Happy Holidays.

My Janome mc8000 won't turn on. The cord looks ok but could there be another reason

the motor could have went out, the plug on the machine may have a problem, could have a wiring problem, if it's electronic, there could be a problem with the computer.

Overload message on my janome 8000

I know you said you have performed the reset sequence, but try these steps and see if the unit goes through the diagnostics correctly.
1

  • Turn off your Janome MC8000. Wait for a few seconds.

2
  • Press and hold the "Start," "Reverse" and "Auto lock" buttons at the same time.

3
  • Release the three buttons once your Janome MC8000 turns on.

4
  • Locate the plus (+) sign on the machine screen. Press the plus sign when prompted. Wait till you receive a message that says "Test Complete."

5
  • Turn off the Janome MC8000. Wait for a few seconds.

6
  • Turn on the Janome MC8000 once again. This will prompt the embroidery machine to conduct a diagnosis. Wait till it finishes the diagnosis and troubleshoots the errors you were encountering before.

I want to sell my 1991 New Home memory Craft 8000 sewing machine

A good place to see what machines are selling for is Ebay. That's where I sold a sewing machine and an embroidery machine.

It helps to know your product and machine embroidery lingo.

What are cassettes? Floppy disks? These make the machine borderline obsolete.

Memory cards are still around, but most EM now have USB connectivity or USB flash drives.

Satin thread? Embroidery machines use Rayon or Polyester embroidery thread.

Having had the machine recently serviced is also a plus.

JANOME MEMORYCRAFT 8000 STEPPING MOTOR ERROR

if you ever have this problem, it is because you have had something in the way of the embroidery arm at the back of the machine, so it has not been able to move freely; you'll get a terrible noise as the machine is unable to do what it wants, slips gears or something and then can't bring the arm to its home position. But fear not, i have found if you turn the machine off and gently push the arm back home to touch the machine as it is the start position, when you turn it on, it will work fine and no harm done. just make sure the arm can move freely before you start embroidery!
