Are you loading to play or to record? Commercial DVDs should play. DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.
You can lock the tray and prohibit the unwanted disc ejection. On the center unit ONLY: While the system is turned off • The system turns on and "LOCKED" appears on the display window. • If you try to eject the disc, "LOCKED" appears to indicate that the tray is locked. To cancel Carry out the same operation again. • The system turns on and "UNLOCKED" appears on the display window.
With the machine turned off (not off at the mains mind you) press and hold the stop button and then while still holding the stop button, press the eject button. Turn it back on and hey presto! This method will unlock it when its locked and vice versa. p.s its in the manual
Ideas
1/ Turn power off for a while at powerpoint for as long as you want 5mins should be fine then turn on and try again.(which youve probably done already) as well as looking up your model number on the net to attain a info on your system.
Does the remote still work if so try to find unlock in menu/setting/functions but if it requires a digit code then youll need the manual as it could have an override built for cases such as yours.
start at jvc.com/dvd5.1 surround and find your model
good luck
there is a small hole in the front of the tray that will accept a straightened paper-clip. gently insert the clip and the tray should release. if the cd/dvd disc is dislodged from being flat in the tray, it may not come out. you might need to open the cover and manipulate the disc to get it back flat in the tray. a good first test is to see if the disc plays. if it does, it is in the tray correctly and should be easily released with the paper clip. the try might work after you release it. another possible first try would be to gently push inward on the tray after telling it to release. if there is extra tension on the tray it could cause the mechanism to not release. freeing the tension on the tray could be all that you need to get the 'unlock' to release. (kinda like trying to open a door when someone is pushing it very hard against the lock mechanism. it wont be able to move). good luck mark
Try pressing the channel up button multiple times to see if you can help the remote find the code. If you push the channel up button enough times and "something happens" then immediately press the mute button to save the code. It worked for my Sylvania tele.
Thank you badgerset112,it worked straight away, cheers Dave.
