When you change the boot priority are you hitting the F-10 KEY and saving your changes? Of if you have to use the Esc KEY are you making sure you select save all changes?

Try removing the primary hard drive and then try going back into the BIOS. If the primary hard drive is not available the only boot option should be the cd rom. If it allows you to choose the cd rom, make it 1st boot device then add the hard drive back in. Let me know how it works out.

My last option would be to flash the bios with the latest updates. You can find out if your bios has any updates available from the manufactures website.

I tried to install windows 7 on my HP Pavillion DV9, but it's not booting from CD-ROM, i tried using a USB CD-ROM, but it's still not booting. pls I need assistance.

Hi,

Try to check if the windows 7 disc that you are using is not just an upgrade disc. Make sure that it is a bootable disc. Try to use other bootable disc to test. Also make sure that the boot device priority is set CD/DVD drive.

Hope this helps.

Ntldlr not found

This is common when there is a disk left in the drive. Check your floppy or CD drive first.
If there is no disk in the drive, then follow the steps below.

Change your computer's boot sequence. Make sure that your computer's first boot sequence is the CD-ROM Drive.

1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.

Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.

2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.

3.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.

4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

5.Enter in the following commands

COPY X:i386NTLDR C:
COPY X:i386NTDETECT.COM C:
[where X=CD ROM Drive]
Take out the CD ROM and type exit

When you start your computer Press F2 or F12 to make changes in Boot sequences.Make the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM 1st in the Sequence. Save the Changes and Exit. Before rebooting put the XP CD inside the CD-ROM Drive and reboot.
If you donot have Driver's CD of Motherboard,it is better to make Driver's CD before reinstallation.
