I have to move my cord arund and hold it in one spot till its fine. but now it wont do nothing at all and my computer is dead.

Had my new laptop for 2 weeks. I have to wiggle the power cord to make it work, the round DC power cord where it connects to the converter box (black).

I have an Acer aspire one.

I opened the power adapter to take a look since I was a TV repair guy before and know what I'm looking for. The soldering joints are about what a 12 year old kid does when they first learn about electronics! Horrible. Cheap piece of worthless cr*p. What did I learn? DO NOT BUY ACER.

I will contact acer for a replacement but I doubt they will do it because I opened it up, why did I open it up? Because I have a business to run and don't have time to mess around with dodgy equipment produced by dodgy companies.

I have an Aspire 5735Z and it suddenly stops recognizing the power connection. It will beep and flick between "battery" and "plugged" power modes erratically. Moving the cord helps sometimes, but it is firmly plugged in.

I have an acer aspire 5920 and you i try to charge there is no power not a light on it goes on what is the problem thank you

May be your power cord. Make sure it's plugged in at the middle near the inverter box... ( that rectangular black box that gets hot in the middle of the cord) as well as at the computer and the wall, or if surge protector, make sure it is on and not tripped. If not you need either a new battery, power cord, or both

Low battery warning

Take the battery out, plug in the charger and see if the laptop works.
If it works, the battery may be the problem.
Check the AC Adapter
Check to make sure the adapter is plugged securely into the wall outlet, connected firmly to the adapter box and to the back of your laptop.
Most AC adapters have a little light in them on that rectangular box in the middle of the cord that lights up when it's getting electricity.
If that light isn't on, try a different outlet.
Check your fuse or circuit breaker box and plug a different device into that outlet to make sure there is power to it.
If it still does not light up, your adapter could need replacing.
Also check the adapter box for signs of warmth, as it will generate heat when it's plugged in. No heat means no power.

Remove the Battery Sometimes it's as simple as a seated battery.
Remove the battery entirely and clean out any dust, lint or hair that may be clogging the connectors and preventing a proper connection.
Reseat the battery securely and make sure the little locking pins that hold your battery in place are securely fastened and there is no movement.
Fix a Broken Laptop Charger
If your laptop charger seems broken, it's most likely because the battery will not charge.
You plug in the cord, the lights come on, but the charging light doesn't change or blinks repeatedly.
When you remove the power cord, the laptop shuts off instantly due to the depleted battery. There's more than one cause for this, and it's not always a broken charger.

Check the connection between the charger and the laptop.
It should fit firmly in the DC jack without wiggling.
If it is loose, use electrical tape to hold it in place so the charger can receive power.
This is a temporary fix, however, because a faulty connection can create sparks and cause a fire or injury.
A loose connection will just get worse over time, so have it sent to a DC jack specialist as soon as possible.
Turn off the laptop and flip it upside down. Locate the latch that secures the battery and slide open.
The battery should pop out; give it a tug if it doesn't.
Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol (Methylated Spirits)to the tip of a cotton swab and use it to clean the battery's connectors.
Dirt can build up and interfere with the connection, giving the appearance of a broken charger. Let the alcohol dry completely and re-insert the battery.
Slide the latch to secure it and plug in the power cord to test it.
See if the laptop powers on with the charger only and battery removed.
If it does, the battery is the likely culprit and should be replaced.
If the charger is truly broken, the only thing to do is to replace it or the power cord attached to it. Look on the bottom and write down the part number.
Call the laptop manufacturer for a replacement charger or search for the part number on eBay.
If you purchase from anyone other than the original manufacturer, ask for genuine parts to reduce the possibility of problems.

Acer laptops allow you to take your work and entertainment on the go.
You can work on a presentation during a long flight or watch a DVD in the middle of a park.
Acer laptops can do this because they are powered by batteries, allowing the laptop to run without having to be plugged into a power source.
Normally, the battery can be recharged by plugging the laptop back into a power socket.
But certain problems can keep the battery from charging.Electrical Connection

For laptops to charge, they need to be connected to a power source.
Although it may look like you have the cable plugged in correctly on the Acer, make sure that the cord is firmly plugged into the power socket.
There should be a light on the Acer keyboard as well as a power symbol on the taskbar for your operating system that tells you whether the laptop is running off electrical or battery power.
If it is plugged in, make sure that this icon shows that it is on electrical power.
Also check the socket where the Acer is plugged in and make sure that it isn't turned off at the main circuit breaker.

Battery
Turn the Acer over and make sure that the battery is properly placed in the battery compartment. Most laptops will have locks that keep the battery securely in place.
These locks can sometimes come loose.
Use a piece of strong tape as a temporary measure to keep a loose battery in place.
Clean the terminals on the battery to ensure that there is a good connection.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
Apply rubbing alcohol to a lint-free cloth. Rub this cloth over the shiny metal terminals on the battery.
Over time, batteries lose their ability to be recharged.
If neither of the aforementioned steps works, you may just have a bad battery.
Check with Acer or other vendors to find a replacement for your model.

BIOS Update The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) controls a number of basic functions for a computer, such as assigning the hard drives and other system functions.
The BIOS also controls the battery charging function.
Certain Acer models have a bad BIOS that operates the computer normally but doesn't charge the battery.
To solve this problem, you need to perform an operation called "Flashing the BIOS" where you download a new version of the BIOS and upload it to your Acer.
Check on the Acer support site to see whether your computer model could possibly be affected by this.

Adapter
The power adapter, the part that plugs into the Acer from the power socket, can go bad.
Check for a power light on the adapter.
If the light is not lit, you probably have a bad adapter.
Replacement adapters can be purchased from Acer or other online vendors.

Remove the battery and plug in the Cord/charger, will it boot? If no, try another Cord/Charger with the EXACT same power specs. Replace battery if necessary.

There is no power from the battery or the adapter and the laptop does not recognise the adapter is plugged in. there are no lights coming on and the power button is doing nothing

Your battery maybe out of charge. Thats why nothing happens when you press the power button. The battery may not be charging because the power cord might not be working. Try another power cord.

Try removing the battery and plugging the power cord and switching on the computer. If its the problem with the power cord the computer wont start. If it starts, the power cord is working fine.

Acer power cord

Hi,
if you can use your notebook without the battery with the power cord attached, then the battery ist defective. If your notebook doesn't power on at all without battery, then the power cord is faulty.

I would imagine the voltage regulator in the adapter brick it dying...it will fry your motherboard if it starts throwing off power spikes. laptops need good consistent power flow of the right voltage. Buy another adapter.
