Melted hole in side of rubbermaid stock tank

I melted a hole in the side of my rubbermaid stock tank last winter with a tank heater.  Is there anyway to repair it that will be relatively non-toxic to my horses' winter water suppy?

My 2002 sportsman 400 ran hot today, all the water ran out and when i fill it now it wont circulate nor is the fan coming on can anyone help?? dont have money to take it in. thanks bowhunter

If the coolant is not circulating, the fan will not come on. The first thing to check would be to pull the water pump cover off and check the impeller. The water pump is located on the right side of the engine, has a radiator hose going into it. I have seen the impellers melt on these atvs. Another thing to check is the thermostat. The thermostat is located on the left side of the motor on the head. It is located just behind the cover where the radiator hose comes out to the top of the radiator. The easiest way to test the thermostat is to place it in boiling water and watch to see if it opens. When you put the thermostat back in make sure the small orifice on the silver ring lines up with the top bolt hole in the head. Hope this helps, if you need anything else let me know, Daniel.

The sprayer nozzle is stopped up, i have tried cleaning it out and it still won't spray.

Round up 1.33 Gal Spray can have a bad pump or a clogged filter or both.
Test pump: pump the handle, does it get harder to pump after 10-15 pumps, when you open the cap does air rush out? If yes, pump is good, if not, wear rubber gloves, remove pump/cap assembly, remove inner tube from cap, the handle\ pump plunger will remair with the cap. if the o ring is dry, wipe it clean, put a little petroleum jelly on the plunger o ring To Lubricate it and prevent o ring wear and helps it seal air tight so the pump will work correctly. reassemble handle\cap make sure the Black inner black plastic hose aligns with the white spray hose .
If your pump passed the pump test, lool inside tank at the chemical fluid clean or does the fluid look like it has lumpy white clumps in the fluid, if so, empty fluid in tank into a clean throw away container look at rinse the tank out with water, strain the clumps out with a paper towl draped over the tank opening inserted about 2 inches into tank opening then when you slowly pour the fluid back in hold both end of the paper towel so it does;nt fall in tank the clumps will remain on top of the paper towel , Then your ready to clean the filter in the cap. Remove the black plactic tube from the pump, remove the white out side hose(squeeze the black connector to unlock the white hose , Then look in the hole the the black tube was inserted into, look for clumps (looks like lint from a clothes dryer, about the size of cotton ball, ) in that hole, to clean the clogged filter,I used low pressure air from an air tank, Blown into the hole where the white discharge hose was mounted. The clog should fall out of the opposite hole where the black tubs mounts. Reassemble and test, Also, the white spray tip turns out to change from spray to stream. Wash Hands good the chemicals can soak into your skin, some people are very allergic to the fluid

I have a pinhole leak in my pool filter. It is a SD80 tank. Can it be fixed or do i need a new tank?

If it is only a pinhole it should be an easy fix. First dry the unit thoroughly, the drier the better. Then use superglue gel to patch the hole from both sides. You may wish to smooth the glue for aesthetics just make sure you leave enough so the glue can hold to the interior under pressure. The gel will dry overnight and is non-toxic. Larger holes or cracks would require a plastic welder or applying fiber glass.

My 97 xplorer 500 will idle and drive great untill wide open at top speed it seems to bog down. Any hints? rebuilt the carb, flushed the tank and fuel lines.

Sounds like you have extra holes in the air box or a loose/missing air box lid. If you make any holes in the air box or leave the lid loose or off, you will need to fix that back to stock or re-jet your carb for more fuel.

These 500s are set very lean at the factory for EPA reasons. The stock configuration relies on slight vacuum inside the airbox under heavy loads for both the fuel pump (vacuum operated) and the extra fuel needed at high RPMs.
If you drill holes or leave the lid off, you will run very lean and the fuel pump will not get the right vacuum pulse it needs to work.

Also check your fuel filter for sufficient flow.

How do I drain the filtration tank for winter? Go to "waste" to get all water out of the filter and pipes ? I have the pentair sand dollar filter for a pool that has approximately 33, 000 gallons of...

There should be a drain at the bottom of your filter. There are really two drains in one ... one part lets the water out the second part (same hole) lets the sand out. Becareful not to remove the sand strainer.

Use a shop vac to blow and/or **** the lines out. Might be wise to lower the water below the suction and discharge lines (bottom drain excluded)

dont forget to pull the two (probably) on your pumps, one in the basket and one in the pump chamber.

alternatively, visit your manufacturer web site for specific instructions.

I dont think you will go too far wrong following my comment but Im not coming to fix any freeze damage :-)

Flotec pump takes long time to pressure up. Has worked fine for ~15 years + but noticed the last month or so it runs and runs even after water use is shut off. It's like it's half the pump it use to be. We...

This could be a problem it the pump caused by freezing, check your drain plugs first to see if their cracked or loosened. They will quite often be made if a softer nylon that will crack first and drain pump in the fation of many fail safes. A place to try on-line for parts that may help is "Optimus Home" But I would check the plugs first.

1999 Polaris scrambler piston melting

Hi Hpenner- We are a Napa store and garage, in Alberta, Canada, and we work on many brands and types of ATV's. First of all, is yours a two stroke or four? If it is a two stroke, does it have oil injection? You will need to make sure that is working (once you have it running)
1) what are you having done to the engine when you replace a piston, is it bored out with new rings, etc?
2) if it is a two stroke, the crank seals may need to be tested, they can fail, cause the engine to run lean and take out pistons like you are describing. The engine needs to be removed and taken to a reputable snowmobile or racing shop- they can seal all the ports, and there is an adapter that screws into the spark plug hole, then the engine can be pressure and vacuum tested. soap solution can be applied on the seals to see if they leak, in extreme cases we have submergred the engine in a water tank with 3-5 psi pressure to see where the leak is. It is a very simple problem, but very often overlooked, no one thinks of the seals, but the whole crankcase is essentially the intake, so it has to be sealed to run properly..
