INSTALLATION D-LINKAND DIR 600 ROUTER AND CONNECT INTERNET BY PC CABLE OR WIRELESS

Hi,
The following is my solution for similar problem with D-Link DIR300. I hope it would be helpful to you as well.
creativetech_21.jpg
Above is the description of making physical connections. Power the Router and you should get the internet if the router is at factory default settings. You may reset the router to factory defaults settings if you have made any changes to the configuration and experiencing issues.
RESETTING THE ROUTER
Reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router near the DC Power Jack).
The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings would be restored.
Please note that, after resetting the router you should be able to see the router and connect to it via LAN Cable of Wirelessly as the router automatic assigns the IP Address and gateway etc. Before proceeding to the next step please make sure that you are getting the signals as well as internet. However, the internet connection would not be secure, which can be done later. Note that there is no software installation required. All you have to do is make some configurations/ settings:

Now, all you have to do is connect to the router and secure the connection follow the following steps: -
First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is 192.168.0.1 (Default router settings are written under the router)
(unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password "leave it blank") and lookup for the options to do the following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Setup" 2.Under "Wireless Security Mode", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Save Settings.
In the screen shot below I have highlighted the above mentioned options.

Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Hi, I'm trying to block a website, so no one in my family can access to it on any computer from the house, how can I do this? Thanks you for your help!

A PDF copy of your manual can be found here,,,

http://files.dlink.com.au/products/DI-524/Manuals/DI-524_G2_Manual_3.00.pdf

You want to go to page 26/97 (based on PDF above)

Here you can enter the "domain name" of the site you want to block.

example:

Click "Allow users to access all domains except Blocked Domains".

If you wanted to block "www.xyzzy.com" you would enter "www.xyzzy.com" into the "Blocked Domains" box, then hit "Apply". You enter whatever site you want blocked, no "http://", just the actual name, again, as example, www.xyzzy.com.

You may need to reboot your router after you are finished.

If I don't have the manual for my D-Link 514 wireless router, do i have to buy a new one since I dont have the password?

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

I have cisco router 857 and dont know how to configure

Hi!
You can access the user manual for your router by going to:  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/850/software/configuration/guide/857sg_bk.pdf

But simply put,  - You have to enable the web interface in Hyperterminal/Telnet/Terminal - To connect to your router this way, open your Terminal and type the following commands in order:
1) enable (enter password if necc.) 2.) config term 3.) ip http server (this command might also be set to "no ip http server") 4.) exit
After doing the above: 1.) Press Cntrl+Z 2.) Go to Copy, Run, Start 3.) Open your browser and go to "10.10.10.1"
Good luck! -TJ

Portforword for D-Link DSL520T

Port forwarding can be done by going to the ip of your router (Usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and putting in either the default username/pass or the one you have set.

Once into the router you should see a navigation menu. Most times one will be labeled "Port forwarding" or "External Access"

If you have the manual still it will have a section on port forwarding as well.
