You may have better luck buying one online. Maybe Ebay, the LVW 5005 is discontinued so you will probably not find it in any store

I have an un-formatted DVD-RW. I want to record music on it. First how do I format it so I can record music, and second, can I record music on a DVD-RW?

No you cannot record music to a DVD-RW. You must use CD-R media to record music as CD players cannot read DVDs. However you can burn the music to the DVD if you plan on using a DVD player to play the music. I beleive some recording hardware does allow you to use DVD's, but most use CD-R media or digital media such as a hard drive or flash media.

Can't find my owners manual, what kind of DVD's would my Acer Aspire Z5700 use?

The Acer Aspire Z5700 Desktop Computer includes a slimline CD/DVD burner capable of burning the following media: CD-R, CD+R, CD-RW, CD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL (double layer), and DVD+R DL (double layer).

Basically, this computer can burn to any type of recordable CD/DVD media except for BluRay.

It wont recognize a recordable DVD. i tried both the R and the -R

Be sure that your hardware is a CD/DVD writer,
not just a "combo" drive (CD-reader/writer-and-DVD-reader).

Try a different brand/manufacturer of recordable media.

You may need to update the "firmware" (software residing inside the writer) to allow it to recognize "newer" blank disks.

Note that "blank" disks have some data recorded on them, to identify the manufacturer and composition and capabilities of the media (2X? 4X? 8X?). So, the values on "new" disks may not be allowable by "old' firmware inside the writer.

I got a t1090 got it from aguy said he had cleaned it i asked him if it would record cd but it wont not even through i tunes

I had an emachine. It only had a CD/DVD ROM(read only memory). You need to purchase a CD/DVD R+W (read and WRITE) to record on.It is easy to install if you decide to buy one and self-install,I will tell you how.Office supply stores usually have them for decent prices.I recommend not buying a refurbished one. Please let me know if you need the help or not.Good luck!

Recording from sky planner to dvd

Yep all you will need is a DVD recorder Philips do a good low cost version DVDR 3380 and a Philips DVD+RW ( this is the type that you don't need to finalize before you can use it in your PC)

All you have to do is make a connectiion to the video out of the Sky box using the suitable connection normally a SCART lead in to the EXT1 or EXT2 of your DVD recorder.

Play the Sky program in your planner and hit record don't forget to select the time you require 1 (HQ) 2,4 or 6 (SLP) hours. It will take as long as the program take to run to record it.

The best way to get the DVD-Video into your PC is to use the excellent TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress from Pegasys use the Souce Video Wizard.

Then select the DVD-VR button this will read in the DVD content and then allow you to edit it and re-encode to almost any format.

If you select over 4 hours or recording most DVD standalone recorders will revert to Half D1 this equates to 360x576 instead of the Full D1 resolution of 720x576 (standard PAL for DVD-Video) you will need to use this filter to convert the half to full download it here Half D1 to Full D1

My computer will play storebought dvd's 'but wont play those recoded on my dvd recorder.

It's probably not your computer... it's your disc drive. The computer can read it, but the disc drive's laser can't. I recommend that you spend $30 on Amazon or Ebay and buy a replacement. They are pretty easy to install. You can't go wrong with Asus brand drives. Good luck!!

How do i record a dvd i can play in a regular dvd player from files on my computer?

for this i would suggest to use a avi to dvd converter program. windows vista may already provide you with a program for this. however i would suggest to use imTOO it supports the features your looking for, thier is a free trial so you can try b4 you buy. i've had very little problems with this program and it's quite user friendly.
