If you have had any work done to the unit, they may have forgot to plug in the left speaker during reassemblly.

Toshiba satellite m105 s3041 sound only works through headphones

Go to your "Start" menu at the bottom, left of your computer's desktop. Select "Control Panel" from the menus. Select "Sounds and Audio Devices" in the Control Panel.

Look at the settings under the "Volume" tab. Make sure the slider is not turned down. If it is all the way to the left, you need to move it more to the right. Make sure the "Mute" button is not checked.

  • Go to the "Audio" tab. There you will see "Audio Playback" with a drop-down box. Make sure it is set to your computer's sound card. For example, if your computer uses Sigma Tel Audio, make sure that is the name in the drop-down box. If it isn't, then change it to read your sound card's name. If you still do not hear sound, your speakers may be damaged.
  • 7 Test your speakers on another computer before you decide if they are broken. The input jack on your computer might be the problem.

  • God bless you

I don't have sound on my computer yet i have installed sound drivers and they are working well?

check in your control panel and go to systems.
Then go to hardware and under that go to Device Manager
In there see if there are any exclamation marks in your sound hardware,
    conflicts and such.
If there are none then go to Sound Controls in Audio Devices and make sure the audio isn't muted in the windows program
Use this to do an audio test of your speakers.
If that isn't working but it should be check your wires to see if there is a break or if it is plugged into the the green colored jack for external speakers.

My left channel in my JVC RX-305 isn't working...what do I do to fix it? When I either push the volume up or down it makes a clicking sound. It was working just fine last night. My right channel is...

Try swapping the speakers or just check the left connections WITH POWER OFF. Disconnect the left speaker completely and see if the clicking stops.

    External speaker do not work

Follow these steps: Go to the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices under the Playback tab, select "Speakers" or any playback device listed. double click the device or click Properties. Go to Levels tab. Under the "Speakers" and "PC Speaker" area, adjust the volume level to its maximum. Then apply changes.
If the above instructions wont work, try this out:
Check if your speaker is detected when you plug it in.
If it isn't detected then either your sound drive has a problem/missing or maybe somethings wrong with your computer's headphone/speaker jack.
If detected, set it as your default device.

    Hope it helped! :)

Speakers are not working there is no sound on tv

check if the audio is connected to anything like external speakers. if not check if it's muted or the volume is at 0. the worst thing possible is that the speakers are blown or cables are frayed and the data isn't transfered.

Can't turn off internal speakers when i have external speakers connected via headphone socket

First, check if you put the connector for external speakers all the way to the end. Sometimes when the connector isn't fully inside both internal and external speakers will work. After you do that, once you connect the external speakers, go to the sound settings in windows and look for the volume mixer. You can regulate the sound for each type of speaker there.

Sound seems to coming from only one of my front speakers(left side). what am i missing? I can't seem to find a balance setting on the menu

Traditional Balance Controls are gone with the dinosaurs of stereo audio equipment.

You may just have a speaker or speaker wire loose/failing. Swap them to isolate to an internal or external failure.

There isn't enough adjustment in the setup to make any channel completely silent.

Use test tones to diagnose it. Page 36.

Output from my thinkpad x40 is balanced (left-right) through the built-in speakers, but only the left channel can be heard when external speakers are plugged in.

As you said your internal speakers are OK, then may be the problem with the external speaker. Check with another set of external speaker. if works fine then check your previous external speakers connection. if still no sound the neeed to check the motherboard.

I am using acer travelmate 5520-5678 and the external speaker only works from the left side. Both works when I connect my headset..

sounds like the spaker on the left hand side is unhooked, blown or the pre-amp in the laptop that drives the speakers is bad, headphones are uneffected as it is a seperate system.
