I solve!! the exact total of bobs ticket is 948.48

Posted on Mar 24, 2009

Hi lilwallace;

The federal excise tax of 8% on the round trip ticket is calculated by multiplying 8% times the price of the ticket. Remember 8% is written as .08 when we multiply.

$832 times .08 = $66.56 is the excise tax

$832 times .06 = $49.92 is the sales tax

Now we just add the ticket price plus the excise tax and the sales tax and we get $832 + $66.56 + $49.92 = $948.44

Hope this helps Loringh PS Please leave a rating for me.. Thanks

The answer is .989130 For those of you who haven't passed grade school math just **divide** **1 by 92, then multiply that answer by 91 =.989130. You can do the rounding because I have to take a nap. **It's really hard to tax my mind that much at 75. LOL.

Partly this is a matter of interpretation. If $101.65 is seen as 100% then sales tax is

$101.65 x 6.25 / 100 = $6.35

However there is a flaw in this. The remainder (the sale price) is

$101.65 - $6.35 = $95.30

So what was the sales tax on this remainder?

6.35 / 95.30 x 100 = 6.67%........too much

So we should regard the $ total as 106.25% not 100%. Then the amount which was sales tax is really

$101.65 x 6.25 / 106.25 = $5.98

$101.65 x 6.25 / 100 = $6.35

If the rightmost digit o be changed (rounded) is 1,2,3,4 replace it by 0 (round down). If it is 6,7,8, or 9 increase by 1 the penultimate digit (round up).

What to do if the last digit is 5? Most people round up. Some purists recommend to round up and down alternatively.

The
basic thing is that without the taxations of all types of your dues it could
not be operated any more. It is also fact that Section 8 of the Constitution
does, and the 16th amendment specifically authorizes the income tax. Federal
Tax Levy is involving all around taxes and taxation departments
transactions. Before that, income tariffs were the main source of revenues for
the federal government. So anybody who tells you tariffs failed doesn't know
history before 1913 and he did not have any kind of idea about failed of
tariffs or anything.

Let A = number of adult tickets and S = number of senior tickets.

The total number of tickets is 444. This equals A + S.

444 = A + S

Total receipts were $7345. This can be represented as:

7345 = A*20 + S*15

Solve for A in first equation.

A = 444 - S

Substitute this into the 2nd equation for A

7345 = (444 - S)*20 + S*15

Solve for S

7345 = 8880 - 20*S + 15*S

7345 = 8880 - 5*S

-1535 = -5*S

307 = S

Therefore there were 307 senior tickets sold.

The number of adult tickets would be 444-307 = 137

Let S = number of senior tickets and A = number of adult tickets.

From the given information you know a) that S+A = 444 (total tickets sold) and b) 20A+15S = 7345 (amount of money taken in).

Rearrange a): A = 444-S and substitute it in b), then solve for S.

20(444-S) + 15S = 7345

8880 - 20S + 15S = 7345

8880 - 7345 = 20S - 15S

1535 = 5S

S = 307
