Do you mean NEW external monitor cable or New LCD screen panel cable, which must plug in motherboard of inside laptop; That's totally different, for the external cable you can plug it by your self, but for the internal LCD pane cable, you can't DIY.

The plug on the screen ribbon cable which connects to the motherboard has dry solder joints. Closing the screen and typing hard on the keyboard can break these joints very easily. All you need to do is re-solder the joints. This is a very delicate job and requires a lot of patience.

Screen keeps flickering diffrent colours on laptop

I don't believe admonishing someone, for their selection of place where they bought a part, is considered a solution.

[Not sticking up for Ebay, or the sellers, but you wouldn't believe the number of computer parts I have purchased, and with only one bad deal. {Money returned, however}

Therefore I offer the following solution;

1) Let's start with the basics, j_patterson9

An LCD screen cannot produce light by itself. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL or a series of LED lights.

The Samsung R519 series of Notebook PC's can come with either one. Just depends on what option was chosen.

(Read the above all the way down)

Now,....which version was your old LCD screen?
Which version is the replacement LCD screen?
They will NOT interchange.

Also, LCD screen, and a screen Inverter are a MATCHED unit.

A CCFL is a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale;

Average Width of the lamp (Bulb) is 2mm. That is a little larger than 1/16th of an Inch.
Average Length is almost as tall as the LCD screen.

Just so you can see an average CCFL used for a Backlight,

A screen Inverter is used to convert the power from the laptop, for the Backlight, and LCD screen.

The thin plastic frame in front of the LCD screen, is the Display Bezel.

(Also may be referred to as LCD Bezel, Display Panel Bezel, and I'm sure a few others I'm forgetting at the moment. It's up to the individual laptop manufacturer as to the name )

Right behind this plastic picture frame looking object, (Display Bezel), and mounted towards the bottom of the LCD screen, is the Inverter.
(screen Inverter)

This small circuit board could have received damage also.
ESPECIALLY if the video cable was damaged.

Just an example of the screen Inverter,

1) LCD screen:
On the back of the LCD screen (Old one) is the manufacturer code.
THIS is matched up to the replacement LCD screen, to know you are purchasing the correct replacement.

If the entity does NOT have this information available, move on to another entity.

2) Video Cable. (Also known as Display Panel Cable, Display Cable, etc)

Test it.
Use a multimeter set to Ohms, and perform a continuity test of each wire in the cable.
This way you can test to see if any wires are stretched, and/or broken.

If you do not own a multimeter, or do not have access to one, may I suggest purchasing an economical version?
Average cost is around $8 to $12, and available at a multitude of stores.
An auto parts store is but one example.

Need to know how to use it to perform this test? Simply state so in a Comment, after you purchase it.

A) Although a video cable MAY look to be fully connected on the back of an LCD screen, all it takes is a very minute (My-Noot), loose connection, and you have your problem you stated.

Re-verify the video cable is completely and fully connected to the back of the LCD screen.
It would also be wise, of course, to recheck the motherboard side connection of the cable.

3) screen Inverter:
To test a screen Inverter requires a sensitive multimeter. Read, fairly expensive,

Without the proper equipment to test the screen Inverter, most consumers just replace it. (Low cost, and ease of accessibility to replace, is also a contributing factor)

What do I see just off the top, J?
The wrong LCD screen, and/or possible damage to the screen Inverter.

However it is up to you to Diagnose, and tell me.

Awaiting your reply.

Laptop screen flickering diffrent colours

Hook a spare monitor to the video ouput usually on the back, if picture okay! the problem is the new LCD screen or video cable which you replaced, if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

I start samsung v20 up and all I get is a blank screen. I can hear sound. Please can anyone help

This problem could be caused by a number of issues.

First of all you will have to trouble shoot the GPU (graphics processing unit). To do this you will need to hook up an external monitor to the laptop and use the keyboard to switch from the laptop screen to the external monitor. If you can see the information on the screen then there is nothing wrong with GPU.

If that is the case then you need to be looking at the cables that lead from the laptop motherboard to the inverter and also the ribbon cable that runs up behind the the screen itself. This means you will have to disassemble the laptop.

If the laptop is still under any warranty then i recommend that you arrange to send the laptop in to Asus as disassembling the laptop will certainly void the warranty.

If the laptop has run out of warranty and you are prepared to have a go at it yourself then click on the link that i have provided below for a short guide with pictures explaining what i have told you regarding the cables >>>>>>>

Please note that if you feel that your unable to check the cables or disassemble the laptop then i recommend that you take the laptop to a reputable PC repair store and have them check on the cables and the LCD screen itself.

Good luck and please post back if you require anymore assistance.

Blinking toshiba satellite A 05-54547 problem

A blinking monitor just might be a loose connection of the main display cable that runs up the left side of the display and connects to the motherboard. Also check the two wire cable attaching the inverter to the screen. The bezel of the screen will have to be removed as well as the power strip and keyboard to check the display cable. Remove the lcd screen from its hinges and look behind the display, there is a flat cable that plugs into the top edge of the screen. This cable has a habit of getting loose and falling out of the socket.

Now there is a chance that the BIOS of the laptop needs to be updated. There are many instances where the display starts acting up and a BIOS update is the correct action to take. Go to the Toshiba support site, put in the model number and then put in your operating system. Scroll down to where the BIOS is listed under downloads/drivers. Download and install the new BIOS, reboot.

Hi, i have a samsung v20 laptop.2 questions...

I have a Samsung V20 for many years and I know it doesn't support a wireless connection built in. But if you connect a USB like myself you can have access to the internet wirelessly. The flikering on the screen are you sure you haven't got a screen saver switched on, you may have it set to a clear black screen and like you say have to tap the keyboard and it comes back to life. It may also have hibernation switched on which will automatically turn off the screen have so many minutes you can change all these setting by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties and under the screen saver tab there will be a power btton you should see hibernation and other tabs across the top these can be altered to whatever you want.

Hope this of use.

Screen Keeps dimming and contrast function does not work

This is possibly, a loose cable or the screens inverter board is overheating. the inverter is similar to a booster in a flourescant light fitting. which converts power from DC To AC and boosts up the panels Light Tube. CFL if it,s faulty or overheating. this will cause the panel to dim.
also check the plunger at the underside of the screen, isn,t sticking down. designed to cut off the panel when the lid is closed. Finally some model laptops, only boost the brightness running on A/C Power. the battery would run-out fast with screen at full brightness. if theres an fn key on the keyboard, press fn and the brightness button to adjust screen brightness.

i thing it's problem of connector of lcd (internal, on motherboard), the connector need to be re-weld/soldering, check it before (pins break?)

I have this problem and resolved by weld pins/soldering pins with soldering iron (white connector with data video cable part and screw from lcd screen, not from internal pc on motherboard)
