bin stat is what is used to shut machine down. if it goes bad in any way, no power will go to the control board. Start there.

ICE BUILDS UP IN LIEBHERR FREEZER

Needs a new defrost timer. If ice builds up then you are not defrosting. If you are not defrosting then the t-stat will read the ice and think it is down to temp and shut off.

Everything in our freezer is frozen solid except for the ice cream which is soft and mushy, the freezer is only about 3-4 years old and we checked and it is turned up to the coldest setting, any ideas what...

If this is a self defrosting model make sure that you don't have frost build up on the back wall of the freezer causing the air not to circulate like it should. If you do have frost build up other items will eventually start thawing as well. If this is the case you have a defrost problem.

If this is not a self defrosting model then make sure it does not need defrosting.

You normally will notice ice cream being soft before you notice other things thawing.

Also make sure the door is shutting good and you may try putting the ice cream in a different location.

Hoshizaki ice maker am-50bae . Made ice regularily--- filled ice bin half way...next day-- all ice melted away with no more new ice? next day shut off for 3 hours now o new ice.

make a few quick checks. If there are water filters on the system, be sure they are not restricked. Could be clogged. Next, check the bin stat. It usually is mounted in the ice bin. If it breaks or goes bad, it shuts down the machine. Start there and let me know if I can be of any further help.

ICE MAKER WILL NOT MAKE ICE

Check for power supplied to unit.

Check that the bin stat has not been broken and has no ice sitting on it. If the bin stat is clean and doesn't appear to be broken, you can attempt to jump out the bin stat and see if the machine comes on.

If the machine comes on, replace the bin stat. If the machine does not come on and you have shut the machine off and back on, then you will need to call for service.

The check valve is a common issue with the Hoshi line-up. If you know where this is, take it apart, clean it, and re-install it.

The evaporator keeps freezing up after about a week. I unplug it and lots of water leaks all over. after 2 days plug it in and it cools fine, about -10 to 0 temp.

Hi, With the information you supplied i'm going to assume there is an ice build up at the rear of the freezer. Your problem is going to be with your defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself. This is going to be one of three problems with your refridgerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelfs and panel in the back of the freezer...you should see ice build up on the evaporator...don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice. Next locate the wires for the heater...using a multi meter test the heater for condinuity...if the heater is bad replace it, If the heater is good replace the defrost thermostat..the stat normally is a barrel looking part clipped onto the evaporator pipe. The last possible problem could be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours?..if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over an hour to see if it turns. I have included links with pictures of what the parts you need to check are: http://romulusappliance.com/manufacturers/maytag/refrigerators/575432.JPG defrost stat http://www.hotekalliance.com/UploadFiles/2008627111553382.jpg heaters http://www.applianceblog.com/archives/EvapMotor1018185.jpg evap fan. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. If you decide to get a repair guy in should not cost you any more then $120 - $200 depending on make/model/problem Good luck! P.s please don't forget to rate my solution....Mike

Freezer defrosts and unfreezes everything. A day or so later it refreezes.

most domestic freezers do not have a defrost control. .90 percent of them freeze and every few years enough ice builds up that you have to unload and manually defrost them. so what is probably happening is the stat is sticking in hte off position and not recognizing the call for cool when the temp gets up. if you catch it off and thawed try tapping the stat gently after the temp is getting way warm. if the box comes on and starts freezing again then the stat is sticking in the off cycle and needs to be replaced. usually under 75 dollars and fairly easy. two wires connect in any order.the stat itself has no in and out requirements. power in and power out when it closes. there may be a ground wire usually green and smaller connector attached to some newer stats. look close and you can see the difference. usually the voltage connections are next to each other and the ground is off to the side or end. stat is usually behind a plastic cover inside the freezer. good luck, disconnect power when you change stat of course.
