Pressing F2 repeatedly as soon as you power on your computer should get you into setup. If you are unfamiliar with changing these settings I would be very careful, some changes made here could prevent your computer from booting which would have to be resolved other ways.I would write down any changes made in case they need to be changed back.

Bios utility

BIOS Setup utility?

Dell laptop?

Lot of information here.......let me see if I can sift through it.........

Post the model number in a Comment.
The model number can be found on the Bottom of the laptop.

As soon as you turn your laptop on, watch for the Dell logo screen.
WATCH the bottom of the screen.
What key does it state to press, to - enter BIOS Setup?

Write it down.
If Windows loads let it load, and run a few minutes. Then turn the laptop off normally.

THIS time AS SOON AS you press the Power On button, start tapping on that BIOS Setup key.
Tap in 2 second intervals.

You may hear beeps. Those are Stuck Key Error Code beeps, and it is you that is doing it. Ignore them.

This will get you into the BIOS Setup utility.

If Windows doesn't load, press the CTRL key, and ALT key, and DELete key, AT THE SAME TIME.
This will restart your laptop, and start tapping on that enter BIOS Setup key.

How to skip bios setup

F2 is your BIOS Setup enter key?

As SOON as you press the Power On button, start tapping on the F2 key.
Tap in 2 second intervals.
You may hear beeps. These are Stuck Key Error code beeps. You know what they are now, so just ignore them.

The BIOS Setup screen goes by F-A-S-T. You have a very small window of opportunity. This is why you are tapping on the enter BIOS Setup key, as soon as you turn the laptop on.

In BIOS Setup there is an option to bypass the P.O.S.T screen.

I understand that you want to disable the function key( action key). The action key feature is enabled at the factory. You can disable this feature in Setup Utility. If this feature is disabled in Setup Utility, you will need to press fn and an action key to activate the assigned function. Refer to the "Setup Utility (BIOS)" chapter for additional information. Invalid configuration information-please run SETUP program

Here is what you do, go into the BIOS setup, usually you press the DEL key OR F2 or whatever your one is, IT should say on screen as it boots up.... it says "Press YOUR- KEY Key for SETUP". So, get into setup, using your manual ensure it is set correctly. Then SAVE SETTING and exit All should be good now.

Original setup was interrupted

press F8 key (just after BIOS screen) at the next cold reboot and you will see a DOS screen with 3 or more options. Read each of them and I think you will see one option is to resume setup. This option places the system at a safe entry point to continue the setup. Another option may read "cancel setup and restore previous system"...this one may be used if you cannot get the "resume setup" option after repeated tries.
