Question about Washing Machines

Drum not spinning & springs wrong way round?

Hi I had a problem earlier answered in http://www.fixya.com/support/t1285095-indesit_w_103_waste_water_catcher
I had thought it was all sorted but there seems to be another problem : the washing macine drum isn't spinning now. I had done a test run earlier and it was spinning fine though I think the motor was working hard from the sound of it. Now the drum isn't spinning round at all & its
I've opened it up and found 2 problems - 1) the belt has come off, I've been trying to reattach this but is there a trick to this without streatching it?
2) When i had reattached the springs earlier I think I may've done this wrong as the concrete block on top of the drum isn't level but slopes towards the right side of the machine. I can see that the springs are attached to the drum in different ways, that is the loose ends going through the drum attachments are going in opposite directions (one pointing to back & one to front of machine) which I think may be the reason for the uneven slope & the reason for the belt coming off in the 1st place. Am I right in thinking this? and is the only way to remove the springs to turn the machine back upside down again?

Also the rubber seal round the front of the machine connecting the drum to the front of the machine where the door shuts is a bit distorted out of shape, but I don't think this is significant & no water was leaking in my test wash.

Much Thanks

Allan

Thanks, so is there any way of fixing the suspension leg & will it mean the belt keeps coming off again or drum won't rotate?

  • allan_hainey Nov 30, 2008

Ok, that sounds like a bit of a job, if I leave it as is will it still run ok or will the belt keep coming off?

I've got the belt reattached now, thanks

I fixed the leg & got it all working. All working fine on the first load, then when I put a 2nd load in the spinning stopped & I reckon the belt has come off again. I'll put it on again & see how long it stays on but if its going to keep coming off I reckon I may need to just get another washing machine.

    Anyway thanks for your help.

To replace the belt hold in place on motor & feed onto pulley. The springs are on correctly but it seems one of the suspension legs is not doing its job. This may have occured when turning upside down & would explain distorted door seal. Thanks again for using fixya.

The probability is that the two halves of the leg became detached when machine was upside-down. to re-connect them take off the bottom half of leg which is secured from underneath, re-fit it to the top half and re-secure.

It will run but the noise on spin will be awful. Refitting the leg is not as difficult as it sounds. What better way to spend a sunday lol.

Hi, my indesit washing machine has stop spinning.I can hear it wanting to spin but the drum does not move. what can be the problem? thanks

This could be a few thing, the brake on, a sensor, door senor, anything unfortunately, produce this "Symptom" You are best to either look around the links below they are DIY, links to help people fix their things. if you cannot, or do not wish to please get a professional, ask for a "Quote" this way you can, make a decision, as to repair or replace.

Indesit W 103 waste water catcher attachment & hooks

Hi .
The plastic lug goes on the top frame of the washer, you should see where as the other will probably be still in place,
Then it is a case of pulling up on the springs and hooking into place.
If you cannot get the clip fastened, then use a large jubilee clip.
Good luck.

My indesit WG1230 washing machine does not spin or move drum but water go in and out.

Hi,
With the door open, try spinning the drum, there should be some resistance along with a slight wherring sound. If it spins freely without much sound at all - you probably need a new belt.
If you can feel it driving the motor, you may need new contact brushes for the motor.
If the machine buzzes when it should rotate on program, you need a new motor Run capacitor also.
If no sound - nothing, the motor may need replacing or at least checking.

Indesit 123. Will not drain. Goes into spin cycle when set but no water comes out. Checked hose at front and rear.

You need to clean out your outlet filter;(which is accessible thru the front bottom right side of machine, small push door, or plastic screw) this needs to be done periodically - according to your usage. If this does not solve your problem check out your outlet pump. Plug off the wall first before you do the jobs. The machine will not drain water if the outlet is clogged. For the pump, tubes, etc you hav to open up behind the machine. Be prepared for water to come flowing out....... You need good pair of grip pliers for the tubes.
And rate me pl, if the solution has worked......
