Black line in center of screen

Depending on where exactly the line is, its most probably a bad logic buffer board, if its in the middle then its your F board. Its really not hard at all to fix it yourself, will be more than happy to help any of you guys.

I have a solid black vertical line going down the middle of mine, too. I called Hitachi and they referred me to a tv repair place. The repair guy came to my house, took a look at it and came back to replace one of the circuit boards. The new part didn't help so Hitachi is going to replace my television instead. Thankfully after all this, I am still under warranty. I've been really impressed with Hitachi's customer service so far. Good luck with your TVs!

I had the same vertical black line on my TV. I identified an capacitor on the PDP board that had come unsoldered, so I fixed that, and the black line went away. But that created a whole host of new problems. I had blue shadow lines on the TV and couldnt use any of the digital inputs.

I replaced the PDP board with a refurb unit and all was well, until the black line reappeared. So instead of just throwing another PDP at it, im looking for ideas.

You likely have a bad connection on one of the circuit boards. I'm assuming that it is a horizontal line, and not a vertical line you are talking about here.

These black lines on the plasma screens are very fixable.  There is a dry solder joint on a circuit board at the bottom of the plasma that needs resoldered.  There are 6 or 7 "ribbons" along the bottom of the screen that correspond to vertical sections of the display, so you just follow the black vertical line down to figure out which one is faulty.  I just performed this fix successfully on my first attempt on a Gateway plasma, but it will work on most plasma's, specifically Hitachi, gateway, LG, Hyundai, & Akai. I think they may all have LG boards, my gateway did.
