Usually there is no password by default. There are different ways to access the BIOS (hitting delete, holing down F10 during boot) that differ between manufacturers. However, if someone mistakenly or otherwise passworded your BIOS you should be able to reset it usually by a jumper on the motherboard. (Usually close to the BIOS C-MOS IC). Sometimes marked CLR by the two pins you need to place jumper across. I would not recommend you try to alter any jumper settings on the motherboard if you have little or no experience servicing p.c.'s as you may create other problems. Check the MFG. support site ( http://www.hp.com/#Product) for help or refer it to a qualified repair center. Good Luck !
HP laptops do not have a password set at the factory. If your laptop has one it was either set by someone else (perhaps at the store or a previous owner). If the laptop is a work computer or was a corporate purchase from HP Business your MIS/IT department may have set the password.
You can try these 2 steps:
1. remove the battery from the motherboard and start the system. If doesn't not allow yu to go further then put it back and start the system again.
2. there would be a jumper of 2 pins . Must be placed near the PC light wires(red, green and etc)
