That is true, there is no default bios password, if the Bios is asking you a password it means that the password had been set up by somebody, in that case you will need to access to the CMOS battery on the motherboard and remove it for few seconds to reset the BIOS.

Usually there is no password by default. There are different ways to access the BIOS (hitting delete, holing down F10 during boot) that differ between manufacturers. However, if someone mistakenly or otherwise passworded your BIOS you should be able to reset it usually by a jumper on the motherboard. (Usually close to the BIOS C-MOS IC). Sometimes marked CLR by the two pins you need to place jumper across. I would not recommend you try to alter any jumper settings on the motherboard if you have little or no experience servicing p.c.'s as you may create other problems. Check the MFG. support site ( http://www.hp.com/#Product) for help or refer it to a qualified repair center. Good Luck !

Hp dv2000 bios

Hello. The only way to get rid of the bios password is to remove the mainboard memory. For desktops this is very simple, however for laptops you first have to remove the case of your laptop, find the battery placed on the mainboard, wait for 5 min. then assemble it and bios is restarted.

You can try these 2 steps:

1. remove the battery from the motherboard and start the system. If doesn't not allow yu to go further then put it back and start the system again.

2. there would be a jumper of 2 pins . Must be placed near the PC light wires(red, green and etc)

How to resets bios for compaq 2514 at

Why? What happend? Is it asking for a BIOS password?
If it is asking you have to short two jumpers on the systemboard to have it reset.
If not, just go in to BIOS by pressing F2 then restore or optimize default settings on BIOS.

Hope this helps...
