When less than a quarter feel the need to vote for the effort some of us at FixYou offer, I think to myself, ”is it worth it”.

They get help, and do not care to thank you; “thank you” do not cost a dime, so why????

I need system restore disk

By this statement, I assume this to mean that you:
  1. Failed to make recovery disks as per the maintenance recommendations when you purchased the machine; or
  2. Made the disks are recommended, but have since lost or misplaced them; or
  3. got the machine second hand and never was given the recovery disks.
The good news is, you can order a restore CD/DVD from HP. The bad news is, that the only recovery option is Windows VISTA, which apparently is what the machine came with. If you need a newer version of Windows than VISTA, you are pretty much out of luck. You will need to purchase a new OS, or reload your OS with whatever media you have and perform a new, clean load. Once you get everything back the way you want it, either purchase a good system recovery software package, or use one of the alternatives on the freeware market. Just be advised that not all recovery software is created equal; some will only work if you can boot the system and then run them. The good ones provide a self-bootable disk to allow you to restore the disk to the image saved.

If VISTA is good enough for you, go to this link and under software option you'll see recovery disk.

It tells me the recovery partition is removed and the reset option is disabled. Is there some other way I can restore my recovery without purchasing the disks from HP?

Hi

you have not stated what model you have,or what operating system, but if your HP has a CD/DVD drive and you have a windows operating system, why not just make yourself a recovery disk. It will be better than the HP disks because it will be more up to date. In fact, it is a good idea to make a new one periodically,to keep reasonably up to date. If you don't know how to make a recovery disk you can find clear instructions on Google. Or, ask again on here.

Hi, my 18month old hp pavilion has stopped working it has given me problems since I purchased it. For the last couple of weeks have had trouble booting up. It just got stuck on searching for drivers, now...

The first thing you need to do is backup any important data, such as pictures, files, and anything important that you've saved since purchasing your computer, including emails and any favorites in IE or Firefox 9which can create html or JSON backup files that will populate yout favorites after you restore your original system). If you haven't tried it yet, you may simply just need to do a system restore in Windows. Look up system restore in search to get to it and follow the instructions to restore to an earlier time. Usually a system checkpoint date is best. If you choose to do a restore with the HP recovery partition, that will restore your machine to the way it was when you purchased it and you'll lose some files depending on which restore type you select. All new data will be lost and the system will be returned to factory condition. You should also disconnect all external devices like printers, scanners etc.

Most new computers don't come with recovery disks like they used to. Instaed they have a recovery partition on your hard drive. There are a couple of ways to get to the recovery screen. One way is to tap the F10 key repeatedly when booting the PC. This should take you to a screen that shows your recovery option. Choose the simple one that won't completely restore and format your disk or all new data will be lost. Or, in Windows, you can go to start, then all programs, then HP tools and then select HP system recovery. I'd first try windows system restore though. That won't delete any of your current files or folders.

The bios test of hard disk test is failed wht can i do now

If the hard disk has failed, and you want the data off of the hard disk, you have two choices..

Purchase a extender to allow you to read the hard disk and also purchase a data recovery program to get the data off the hard disk...

Or google data recovery service and find one that can retrieve data of of bad hard drives..

Either way afterward you will need to purchase a new hard drive.. They have drives as low as 30 dollars online that can be purchased and then installed.

You will need to reinstall windows on the new hard drive you get..

Ultimately you will have to weigh the cost of repairing the computer ( purchasing a hardrive and purchasing a new copy of windows)

Versus purchasing a new computer.

Need recovery disc for laptop model dv2745se

This is a fairly new laptop, it should have come with either a recovery disk or a recovery partition on the HDD. You should be able to still purchase the recovery media from HP. Have you contacted them?

Recovery partition (including possibility to recover system, applications and drivers separately); Optional re-allocation of recovery partition; Recovery CD/DVD creation tool; Symantec™ Norton Internet Security™ 2008 (60 days live update); Notebook Help & Support

This is a feature of the notebook from the HP support site.

Factory.settings

Hi,

According to what you have said, you might have created the Recovery disks after purchasing the notebook. Now you are trying to restore the notebook to factory settings, but they are not working.

Even you have tried to F11 options to restore notebook using the Recovery partition of your notebook.

Let me assist you in this regard.

If the recovery disks are not booting, then we have to check if the issue is with the disks or with the CD/DVD drive itself.

To check that, you need to try to boot with any other OS CD. If the notebook is booting with other OS disks, then the issue is with the Recovery disks itself.

Even F11 option is not working, you have to make sure that D: Recovery is not removed.

For your information, if the issue is with the Recovery disks, then you can purchase the Recovery disks from Hp at very low price.

You can order them from the below link:

Under
CD-ROM order page - Recovery Discs you can order the place order for Recovery disks.

Need 25-character Vista key to buy backups from MS!

Hello John,

Unfortunately none of the PC manufacturers, with the exception of Toshiba and Dell, ship with recovery disks anymore. Instead, you have the option to create recovery disks after you purchase the computer. HP for example, used 3 DVD-R's to create recovery disks. And when you use those discs to recover your system it will revert it back to the way it was when you purchased it. So unfortauntely, the only way to get a set of recovery discs is to purchase them from HP. They cost about $30 on average. And unless you want to just purchase a new full copy of windows, purchasing the recovery discs are the only way to recover your system... legally.

To order HP's discs, just go to their support site at www.hp.com and search for your model number. It will then give you the instructions on how to order your specific discs.
