Question about Sigma Cameras

1 Answer

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over exposed by 1 to 2 stops. If I use the same functions with my Canon 18 -55 kit lens the exposure is correct so I would presume the camera is not causing the problem. The only way I can get a correct exposure with the Sigma lens is to compensate manually for each shot. Please note the exposure problem is worse when I shoot outdoors. I look forward to your help Sonia Hunt

Try your EOS in AV (aprature value) mode. You should be able to adjust your aperature value in 1/3 or 1/2 steps dependind how you have your Custom Functions set in your camera's menu. Possibly the lens you purchased is for an EOS 35mm. If you use a 35mm lens on your eos there are some calculations you must use. When using a 35mm lens on the EOS 20D, 30D, 40D and 50D bodies, you must first calculate your focal leingth by 1.6 times. With this, your exposure changes as well.

The only EOS Digital SLR bodies that use a 35mm x 24mm CMOS sensor are the 1D and 5D. My wife uses a Tamron 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 lens on her 20D and loves it.

If this makes no difference, you may have a defective lens.

Unresponsive firefox and 93 viruses preventing things to be done what should I do?

You could try restoring your computer to a earlier time before this became a issue, but keep in mind some virus can end up in the restore registry. But I would recommend going to www.download.com Type: avast antivirus and download this appointment it should clean most if not all the problems and it's free, once installed it updates all definitions automatically, then run a full scan of your system. uninstall your old antivirus first before you install this.

Sony VX2000 lens mold-how to gain access to clean?

YOu are going to need to open up the entire camera to get the far most lens out. the best way to clean it is with rubbing alcohol , if you need assistance in opening the camera straight out then you can download the service manual for your camera, but basically all you need to do is take all the screws out.

here is the link for the manual

Logitech G7 cordless laser mouse - erratic action

Acting on advice from another FixYa string, we blew out the mouse and dock several times with canned air. It performed slightly better, but then as we continued to use the mouse it suddenly cleared and is working almost 100% now.

From reading earlier strings, I'm wondering why Logitech (in its product material received on purchase) doesn't recommend this as periodic maintenance for the mouse?

Lens stuck

This kind of lens is not easy to repair. If you are familiar with this kind of technology, try to open and eventually usntuck the optical unit. If not purchase the optical unit part number 178836311. If you need more info please advice. Arpi
