You should have a power lead that you plug into the mains (5 amp fuse) and the back of your printer. The other lead should be a USB 2.0 cable that plugs into the back of your printer and into the usb port on your computer. If you go on to the Cannon web site, you may be able to download the manual, it may be in pdf form or winrar. I trust this information will be of help.

My computer was reset. I lost the ability to scan with my Canon mx310. Help!

Check your cable connection then see if your computer identifies new devices. If you have a disk for a driver for that device install that, otherwise do a google search for a driver for your product and download that.

I havea mx310 but have lost the manual - how do i set up to scan photos?

You can download your manual from this site:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx310#BrochuresAndManuals

Solution: Setting scan methods for the button (Windows) - MX310

Scanning using the Operation Panel

You can scan documents using the operation panel.
Important

bullet.gifDo not disconnect or connect the USB cable while the machine is in use.

bullet.gifIn Windows XP, the program selection dialog box may open when you press the Color Start or Black Start button on the machine for the first time. In that case, select MP Navigator EX, then select Always use this program for this action and click 'OK'. From the next time, MP Navigator EX will start automatically regardless of the selected scan mode.

arrow.gifSelecting a Response to Commands from the Operation Panel

1. Place the document face-down on the platen.

2. Press the Scan button on the machine.

The machine enters Scan Mode.

3. Press the Color Start or Black Start button on the machine.

MP Navigator EX starts on the connected computer. Scan documents on the platen or ADF (Auto Document Feeder) using MP Navigator EX.

Trust this is helpful.

I have a canon mp830. When scanning to pc, the MS Publisher app opens (or is suggested to open) which is fine, but no image comes across. It does not appear that the scanner is working although it copier...

When the Publisher application opens sometimes you have to manually scan the image from the software. When you press scan from the printer this only prompts the Pc to chose a program to open the image with. Allow the publisher app to fully open and look for an icon that says scan now or something similar then you should be able to see the document in the publisher software.

How to scan a document using Canon MX310 to Microsoft Word

you can try it by using the scanner option on the control panel. If you are using windows operating system, go on start menu, select control panel and double click scanners & cameras. Double click the scanner online and start scanning the documents. Save it in the format you want but it is usually default as jpeg.

scanned documents usually saved as .pdf file if you run the scan option directly on the printer. By pressing the SCAN button the printer. So do not use this option if you do not want the documents to be saved as pdf files.
