Cannot delete print job

I have a print job pending in the queue, and i have tried to delete it, but it will not. It says "deleting' but it is not, and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. It is impeding me from printing anything else, even though I set its priority level as low as possible. Help!!!

A print job of a banner was interrupted after the 2nd of 4 pages. The printer said "check pape." There was a piece half-way inside, so I hit the on/resume button and the sheet was ejected. When I attempted to print the banner again, it would not. The printer status indicated that there were 2 print jobs pending. I selected cancel all print documents. Only the 2nd print order was deleted, the first one, which was interrupted, says "deleting," but does not delete, and I cannot continue. I'm using matte cardstock paper, which I have used many times successfully. This has happened before, and after a while of turning off the entire system, rebooting, disconnecting the printer from the computer and reconnecting, it would finally delete the pending print job. This time, however, NADA. ZILCH. AAAARRGGH HELP, PLEASE.

my hp1315 states print job deleting, but does not delete. I, therefore, pressed into service the standby canon printer which does not pose this difficulty. Kindly email to me your solution for print job not being deleted by hp1315. 31s7 August 2008

Unplug Printer from the wall or back of Printer. Remove the R- 45 cable or USB cable from the back of Printer.

  • GMS Lazerworks & Toner Sep 17, 2014

Continuation of above : Shut down your Computer, when all booted up go into the Printer queue of your Computer and redelete if necessary. Plug your network cord or USB back into your Printer, power on printer and send a different job to Printer. Should be all fixed.

  • Rick Hughes Nov 26, 2014

You can Force a delete of the print cue if nothing else works: 1. Go to Start, Control Panel and Administrative Tools. Double click on Services icon. 2. Scroll down to the Print Spooler service and right click on it and select Stop. In order to do this, you need to be logged in as Administrator. 3. Next you need to go to the following directory: C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS. You can also type %windir%\System32\spool\PRINTERS into the address bar in Explorer. (if the C drive is not the default Windows partition.) Delete all the files in this folder. This will clear all print queues. 4. Now you can go back to the Services console and right-click and choose Start for the Print Spooler service! At this point, you should be able to print without a problem.

I also had similar problems...what i did was to stop the spoolsv.exe. by pressing CTL-ALT-DEL brings up the windows task manager. goto to the Processes tab and look for the image name 'spoolsv.exe', select it then press the End Process button. a confirmation dialog will appear. press yes. Then go to this folder: 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS' you will see a bunch of files, delete all these files. After deleting said files, then press the Start button, press Run. A run prompt will appear. type this 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe'. Then goto to your 'Printers and Faxes' folder and try to refresh your printer. I do this everytime when i can't delete the spooled printer. Hope this helps... :)

Norms: You method is a good one, but I'd make one change. Instead of using the task manager to kill the spooler, run a shell (start->run->cmd) and type 'net stop spooler' then use explorer to go delete those files in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\
then back in your command shell type 'net start spooler'
This is a little more system friendly way to start and stop the spooler.

Try This.. Easy Way

> Press ctrl + alt + delete Combination key and select the Start Task Manager.

> Select -> Services Tab on Task manager
> find service named > Spooler - Spooler Service
> Right Click on Spooler and select Stop Service to stop the service.

>>> After Stopping the Spooler service please turn off your printer and disconnect the USB cable from computer. This why because some time it will corrupt you Spooler service when you start the printer. so please disconnect the cable from computer ans just connect it again after few moment.

> Turn on the printer. It will definitely works.

Thanks,

Ketan

The printer turns itself on autamaticcally and wont stop printing

You need to cancel all pending print jobs on the queue. If you see the printer's icon on your System Tray, lower right corner of your computer, right click it and choose Cancel Print Jobs. Or you can double click it so that it will show you the current printing job or those in queue. Select and delete them. If this does not cancel the pending print jobs, disconnect your printers power cord and shutdown the computer. After like 10 minutes, turn the printer and computer back again.

We have a spooling problem. The sharp mx-2300n just says "ripping" and 20% complete but won't move from there and print anything. Can cancel print job from Mac but won't stop anything at the printer end....

Go into the Job review mode and highlight the pending print job (note: it may be stuck in processing). You should then get the option to delete the job.

Make sure that the pending print job is also cleared from the network print queue. They can sit in the queue and be persistent on processing, even after you've cleared the copier. Clear the queue prior to deleting the job on the copier.

If this doesn't, disconnect the copier from your network and try the above steps again, then reboot the copier and reconnect it to your network.

If you're trying to print out Adobe-based web pages from the internet, this may be what's causing your copier to jam up. There's known coding anomalies with Adobe-embedded documents on web pages. Trying to directly print from the web page can stall or lock up the print process.
