SOURCE: no sound thru dvd player, but fine for tv and vcr

Just had the same problem and it is fixed for me. With NO DISC in the player go to the System Menu. Next Navigate to Preferences on the top of the screen.

You will set an option titled "Default". Select that and it seems to reset the player to default settings and fixes the sound.|

SOURCE: not sure how to connect other devices

Unfortunately, the Westinghouse monitor has a bunch of inputs available, but completely lacks the audio output connection you need that would make life simple. Your Philips HTS only a single auxiliary audio input, but it does offer video and audio output connections to a monitor.

About the only solution I see available is to buy an A/V selector switch (available from Radio Shack and probably stores like Best Buy). Run the audio connections from the HD receiver and XBox through it, and send the output from the selector switch to the auxiliary audio input on the HTS6500. (You could use RCA Y-adapters to connect the audio to the monitor as well as to the selector switch if you really want to.) Send the video from these sources directly to the monitor.

You would need to select the source on the monitor, A/V switch and HTS to get the result you want, but it would be workable. (Now, why didn't Westinghouse simply include a set of audio output jacks with all those sources available?)

If this solution has gotten you going, please take a moment to rate it. And thanks for asking here!

What cables go from my 55 inch hitachi tv to connect on the back of the dvd player . I have two monster cables red and blue together and three cables red blue and green together.

I have never herd of a red and blue combo but, The three, red, blue, and green are "component" cables. Hopefully your DVD player has a red, blue, adn green component out, not to be confused with red composite out. Composite cables are yellow, red and white, and, your tv has componenet in. The component cable will give you the best video quality. When installing make sure they are inserted all the way but twisting and wiggling or you will have a bluish, grenish, etc. picture. The composite cables give you the video only, so you will have to provide the audio. Audio can be achived using composite red and white or digital optical. If you second monster cable is red and white you can probably use those To go from "audio" red and white out on DVD to audio in red and white on tv. You must use the same audio input that corresponds to you video input.

We need to connect a wii and a dvd player up to our 32 in Emerson? Unsure of which jacks to use?

First, you must figure out If your TV has component video inputs. This is a set of five cables (red, blue and green for video and red and white for audio) and will give you the best picture on an hdtv

Then, If your TV does not have the component video cables, you will be using the red white and yellow composite yellows the system came with. A very simple connection.

Last, If your TV does have the component video inputs, you will need to buy a set of the Nintendo Wii Component Video cables from Walmart, Target or any other gaming store. These will enable widescreen view and the best picture quality.

To connect your DVD player, you need to located the composite video inputs and s-video. Composite video is a yellow, female RCA jack, normally found next to two audio jacks, one red, the other white. The three jacks together provide an interface for audiovisual connections. The red RCA jack connects the right channel of a stereo system, while the white RCA jack connects the left. The yellow composite video jack rounds out the set.

When playing the Wii, you will need to be on the correct video input "Component"

When playing the DVD, you will be on "Composite/Svideo."

it is not reccommended for game console to be played on a projection t.v because projection tv's have three color bulbs in them and the conversion is different and if it happens to work it has been known to have burn the games image in the screen after awhile.. usually the store doesn't tell youthat unless you ask them about playing game consoles on a projection tv
