Hi there,

did your system to press F1 to continue. not try to go on BIOS setup. on booting process press F2 or Delete tab. and then click on safe mode if the booting will continue to run. come up a confirmation if you continue in safe mode click yes. and then work on that system for a couple of minutes, and then restart you pc.

you have too many start up programs. that why it will freeze during start up.

My hard drive has system but when i try to boot from usb or cd room for new system it's freeze and doesn't start up with usb boot or cd room

You didn't provide any details on what OS you are running or trying to load, but here are some steps to verify.
1. Ensure that the procedures you used to create your bootable USB device or bootable CD are correct. These will not boot unless they have a boot loader installed properly on them.
2. While running your existing system, ensure that you can actually view the files on your USB device or CD (in case either device is not actually working).
3. Ensure that the BIOS settings set the boot priority to USB or CD ahead of the hard drive.

Gateway g6-300 will not post.. do i have the jumper settings wrong?

If this is a system that you've been using and now just won't POST, it's not due to jumpers. Most likely it's just that the board (or processor) is bad. This is a fairly old board, and chances are some of its filter capacitors have reached the end of their life. This is a common failure, and typical symptoms are a system that doesn't boot or boots intermittently, or freezes during booting or operation if Windows ever starts. It's also possible the system power supply isn't working properly.

Information on what jumpers there are, as well as other connectors, is here.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

CANNOT INSTALL XP HOME

Why do you revove the cd? DONT do that, just let the installation go on until it finish.
When xp restarts you will be asked if you want to start from the cd, if you do press any key, DONT press anything at all, let the system starts from the point of installation that it needs.

BTW, did you set the boot correct? boot ONE the cd/dvd, boot TWO the HDD

Good luck

Geforce fx5500

timber710,
Please remove the geforce fx5500 video card. Blow out the AGP slot with some canned air. Re-seat the video card & make sure you install it with even pressure (front to back) with slight rocking motion untill the card is completly seated. Try running the system again. ( I'm thinking the card was not completly seated).

If your system freezes again re-set your cmos / bios. In your user manual pg. 2.
Boot to the bios & re-setup all your settings. Save & exit.
If your PC still freezes, try another AGP card because the 5500 seem to be defective.

So hate giving out bad news........
Luck timber710

Freezes @ Mobo Splash Screen

you have i would say a corrupt bios, if it can't even select the splash screen, i'm assuming that you have tried to reset the cmos by means of the relevant jumpers, either JBAT1, CLRCMOS or CLRCLK or similair. If so and still nothing, when you built the system you may have stressed the board fitting the heatsink and fan or the memory causing the mobo bios chip to fault or it is simply a manufacturer fault and therefore up for exchange of faulty goods.
