Question about Dell U0636 Mouse

Cordless mouse interference

I have just bought a cordless mouse for my wife's laptop. When we are in the same room, using our laptops, my cordless mouse goes crazy and unresponsive. They are both HID compliant mice. It seems that my mouse is picking up my wife's mouse's signal. How can I fix this?

The one that goes crazy is a TDE model N530 and the other one is a Targus model AMW05US.

I think I have solved the problem. Both mice and their receivers have buttons on them. I've since learned that they have about 256 channels which can be adjusted by pressing the receiver button first, then the one on the mouse. I'm pretty sure that this slightly alters the frequency. Since we did this with both mice, we don't seem to be getting any interference problems

It would be helpful if you could give the make/model of the wireless mouses.

I tried everything also. I have a laptop. THIS ACTUALLY WORKED. As a last resort Logitech support suggested unplugging laptop and removing laptop battery for 10 minutes. Put battery back in, plug power back in. Mouse works great. I was very skeptical that this would work. But it did!!!!

Go to the Logitech website. In the support/downloads are you will find the software & drivers you need to install to your computer. You can download the generic logitech wireless driver & then let the new software determine the model. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Install a Logitech cordless mouse on my desktop computer

You didn't say what model it was, so this is general. If it doesn't work, comment back, before rating, with the specific model and I will be more detailed.

Make sure you have good batteries in the mouse.

Plug the receiver into a usb port. try to keep it as close to the mouse as possible. There should be a small connect button on the receiver. Press it. Then there should be a small connect button on (under) the mouse. Press it. The mouse should begin working.

To get the most out of it, you can download software from Logitech Support

Again, if this doesn't work, comment back with the model number before rating. Thanks for using Fixya.

Uniden 5.8 GHz Digital cordless w 3 handsets interference background noise no matter where we are in the house or which handset we use

This is possibly caused by the internet connection.
Try new ADSL filter.
You need one each per device.

The router for my wireless is upstairs in my bedroom, which is fine if i want to sit in my room, and use my laptop. but if i try to connect in the living room, it doesn't pick up the network ???? I have...

you can try a couple of things...

  1. get an external antenna to boost signal strength
  2. ensure you are not sharing a channel with someon else causing interferance and degrading your signal. download NETSTUMBLER and scan for vacant channels.
  3. ensure cordless phones are not near router antenna as they often share similar frequencies causing interference
  4. move router if possible to get a "clearer" path - try to put it somewhere that reduces the number of walls etc between it and where you want to work on the laptop
BTW - I have an external antenna and I cover my 3600 sqft house easily

Could our phones cause wireless internet connection problems?

Yes, most wireless routers and laptop wireless connections operate in the 2.4GHz band... the same band that most cordless phones are in.

Even bluetooth is in the same band.

If you turn your all cordless phones off (including the main base unit) and the interference disappears, then the solution is to change your phones to ones which operate in the 5.8GHz band.
