- I have the same problem on an old Gateway... it does the black screen and cursor so I got angry and left it there and after awhile (must have been an hour or 2) it got to the main screen but it takes 20 minutes to do one small task like open the internet or even to click on my windows XP icon to get to my settings. - comrade579Jan 25, 2009

I have a dell inspiron 1525 ..the screen blacks out leaving the cursor only... hod do I remedy?
