Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 4805 Multimedia Projector

4805 Lamp & Remote

I was watching a DVD on my 4805. I left the room and when I come back there was no picture. I appears the lamp is not working. It only has around 300 to 400 hours.
I removed the lamp assembly and cleaned the filter screens and still have nothing but a blinking red light. Also, the remote will not cut it off.
Thanks for your help.

wow! Happened to me on 29th Nov - 1st noticed blinking red lights (I believe 3 close-blinks repeating themselves after a short gap) turned off the video.

I cleaned the filters etc and then re-powered the unit. Now after trying for a while, I get a consistent single blinks.

What can it be, other than lamp hours? The unit is about 3+ yrs old with no more than 500hours used.

This symptom can be caused by a few different conditions. Do you hear the fans running? If not then possibly the over temp protection switch has failed.
or the lamp cover is not securely in place.

If the fans are running (you can feel air flow) then either the lamp has failed prematurely or the lamp power supply (ballast) has failed or you have replaced the lamp and failed to reset the lamp timer and it has reached it's limit which can be reset by pressing both the volume up and volume down buttons on the the projector simultaneously for 10 seconds.
This will reset the lamp timer.

Good luck!

Powering On
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
  • The Lamp
  • If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
  • Color Wheel
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.

try a lamp first, through best buy their about $150 -250. If that fails it might be the optic block assembly which is about $1,000, and i just recently had replaced, and the picture is as bright and clear as when i got it two and half years ago
