Scroll bar won't work on some e mails

You need to fix IE8 to have it work properly with GMail, by turning off Compatibility View. 1. In IE9, press the Alt key to toggle the main menu bar on first.
2. Then in IE8 or IE9 click Tools and choose Compatibility View Settings
3. Remove google.com from the big text box if it is there (in some versions it may not be.)
4. Uncheck the three checkboxes under the text box - this is very important, or Microsoft will just switch CV back on again next time you start IE.
5. Restart IE.
That should cure all your scrolling problems.
To deal with your sidebar you have three options:
1. Hover your mouse over the section you want to see to expand that part - i.e. mouse up to your labels to have them all drop down, or mouse down to the bottom to see your Chat contacts
2. Grab the bar which divides the two sections and drag it down till you can see all your labels
3. Collapse Chat till you need it by clicking the Chat bubble icon at the bottom of the side bar.

Why can't I view the entire screen on Windows 8.1. Why does it cut off the tiles on the left?

Windows 8.1 keeps adding tiles of programs that you install and all tiles/ programs cannot be listed/accomodated in a single view and so you have a scroll bar at bottom that can be used to browse through all the programs that are installed on the system.
also please try changing the display resolution to meet the best resolution (for ex: 1440*900pixels) that your widescreen monitor supports.
as that seems to be the actual issue

Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right.
But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash andQuicktimesoftware are installed and up to date.
But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing.
Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c- Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

Not Showing the Other Person
Online Status
When one of your Skype contacts is not online, they will not show up in your list of available contacts.
It is possible to hold a conversation with someone who is not on your friend list, however; if you are trying to talk to someone you have previously chatted with but does not show up on your list of contacts, check to make sure that you have added the person.
All of your added contacts will show up on your list; the ones who are offline will have a grayed-out Skype icon and the contacts who are online will have a green icon next to their name.
If you cannot see the person's name, you may need to search for them and create a new contact.
Availability
Skype users have the option to change their availability when they are signed into the program. The status availability options are: offline, online, SkypeMe!, invisible, away, not available and do not disturb.
If the person you want to talk to is signed in but has selected the "offline" or "invisible" availability, you will not see them as online.
For the name to show up on your list of online contacts, the person must change their availability.

Blocked
If you cannot see a person that you have already added to your list, there is a chance that the person has blocked you.
When a Skype user chooses to block you, you will not be able to see anything about availability.
Even if the user is online and accepting messages, you will not be able to see the status and messages will remain undelivered.
Video
If you are trying to hold a video chat with a Skype contact but cannot see the person, there are several possible reasons.
If either of your Internet connections are too slow to support streaming video, the video will not come through.
If you have been chatting by text and switch to video, the other person will need to enable the video stream before you can see them.
Other culprits can include out-of-date webcam drivers, unplugged webcams or another video-enabled application running at the same time.
Share Both Screens in Skype
Sign in to Skype and right-click on the contact you want to share screens with.
Click "Call" to place a call to the user. When he answers, the Skype call toolbar will appear beneath his avatar.
Click the double square icon on the toolbar.
This is the share button.
Click "Show Entire Screen." Your screen is now visible.
Ask the other person to click on the double square icon and then "Show Entire Screen."

If you have already downloaded these programs or data ?

Losing a file or program that you have just downloaded can be a frustrating experience.

The key is to be patient and to accurately note the name of the file or program.

With some effort, the process of finding a downloaded item can be quickly accomplished.

Note the name of the file or program that you have downloaded.

It is easier to find if you have the entire name, including the file extension.

Go to your desktop.

Right click on the "Start" button on the bottom left.

Scroll to and select "Find" or "Search," depending on your version of Windows.

Use the "Name" function in the dialog box that appears.

yoe in the entire name of the file that you downloaded, and click "Find Now" or "Search."

You can also search by date with the "Date" tab or button.

Enter the date you downloaded the file, and hit "Find Now" or "Search."

Double-click on the file or program in the resulting list and it will open.

Mac-based computer

Note the name of the file or program that you have downloaded.

It is easier to find if you have the entire name, including the file extension.

Go to your desktop.

Click on the "Spotlight" button in the top right corner of your Mac.

Type in the name of the file and hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.

This will result in a list of instances of files on your Mac that match the file name.

Once you find the file or program in that list, click on it and it will open.

Browser-based solution

Open the browser that you used to download the content or program.

Some browsers, including Firefox, have functionality that lets you track where your downloads reside.

Click "Tools" in the browser menu and scroll down to "Downloads" if it is available.

Click on "Downloads." In Safari, go to "Window" and scroll down to downloads.

Scroll through the list of downloads from the browser in the list that appears.

Double-click the download.

Hope this helps.
