I have a vgc-rc110g and want to buy a better hard drive for music recording/production/mixing i have some knowledge of hard drives as i spent countless hours researching the question is that i opened the panel that gives me access to the hard drive and i found 3 additional SATA plugs from my current knowledge that means i can add a total of 4 new hard drives to my computer if i was to replace the existing one... thats all pretty clear but i dont know what hard drives to add in terms of capacity 500gb/1tb/2tb im pretty sure i cant just add whatever hard drive i want because i have to make sure it is compatible with the motherboard if it was up to me i would add 4 new hard drives 1tb 7200rpm each but im not sure if that is possible whats the maximum hard drive capacity i can add to my computer? i plan on using this desktop strictly for music and need a good hard drive(s) so i will consider any brands referenced i would really appreciate the knowledge, advice and time you spend in helping me out
I have this machine and love it. Bought it refurbished and added 4 x 1TB WD green drives. Using the built in RAID Controller I am running RAID 1 ( mirroring) on 2 sets. So I have 2 TB total available. I am considering upgrading the drives myself, but do not know the max the Bios will support, I would love to swap out the 1 TB for 3 or 4 TB and continue to run RAID 1. But still don't know what the max capacity the BIOS Will recognize.

It's the HDD, or the HDD controller. Give sony a call. Based on the number and sequence of beeps, they can tell you exactly what this issue is.
SOURCE: need the motherboard layout for this board out of viao vgc-rc110g
You will find as with Dell that the motherboard etc is all custom & you cant upgrade it yourself, you have to go through Sony. I am not 100% on that but that has been the case with many branded PCs i have seen.
Can you not open the case? This usually voids the warranty but if you were intending to replace parts then it would likely be voided anyway.
Thanks

all VAIO Desktops are IBM Compatible. An ATX motherboard will fit.
