Compaq laptop green pink screen pixalted

One of the things is to hook it to another monitor and see if that still happens. If it does not then it is most likely the screen on the laptop. Not to worry though it could be the cable that connects the laptop motherboard to the screen. When you open and close the lid, it flexes the cable and the little wires in can break. The cable is not cheap though. One way to test this is to change how far the lid opens by flexing it open and closed to see if the screen changes. If it does then it is that cable.

My toshiba a60 has been acting up for the last month, and has finally stopped turning on yesterday. Every time I tried to turn the laptop on, the blue power light flicks on for one sencond, and turns off....

moz-screenshot-1.jpgFirst thing to do is to disable the option that computer automatically restarts when a fatal error/system failure occurs. There is an option inside windows for that, but in this case we can't do that. So what you need to do is to press F8 before the Windows XP logo appears right after the BIOS screen (just like what you do when you want to boot in safe mode). This screen will appear:

How do I fix

I see you chose Safe Mode.

Blue Screen Of Death

  • Unplug PC. Opening case. Remove all RAM. Use static precautions! Insert one DIMM and test. Does it load OK? Test one DIMM at time. One slot at a time. To eliminate possible bad RAM.
  • Re-install Windows. Clean install works best. All data will be lost.
  • Lastly you may have other hardware problems. If it does another blue screen after reloading windows, especially with a clean install.

The desktop is blackscreen

When you say your desktop has a black screen does that mean after your computer boots up its black or even right when you turn it on you do not even see the the Bios screen.

I know you wrote desktop but are you just using that as a term for a a computer so Is is a laptop or desktop?

There are three possibilities,
1) Your screen died
2) Your graphics card died ( if its a desktop it usually an easy fix, if its a laptop most times its unfix-able )
3) if its a laptop can you see a very faint image? if so there is something called an inverter that can be replaced to fix that issue

Toshiba laptop 2 years old, the screen is black. The laptop turns on but get no screen.

You can try connecting an external monitor and if you can get to the CMOS/BIOS you can verify that the active screen is your laptop screen. If everything is OK on the BIOS, then probably your laptop screen is broken. To enter the Bios use F2 or F10 (depending on model) when booting.

Toshiba Equium A210 Laptop and the screen keeps on going blank

Hi...I have had the same problem with my A210 laptop as well over the last year. The problem is sporadic and it would just happen out of the blue.My daughter has the same laptop and the same problem. The screen would go blank ,but you could tell the computer was still functioning somewhat in the background. The only way to fix it was to reboot and if you were working on anything it was lost.I also recently had another similar problem.I had the laptop set to go to sleep when i shut the lid. This worked great for a year or so.When i opened the lid the screen would come back on and i could continue using the computer where i left off.But recently when i opened the lid the screen would come back on for a few seconds then go blank ,just like it did as described in the first problem above. Not sure why as i had not changed any settings on my computer. It happened every time i closed the lid then opened it.A pain as had to reboot to get it back. Here is the fix my friend discovered.Click on the ATI icon in the taskbar and open up the CATALYST CONTROL CENTER.Make sure the advanced view is selected. Now choose "display options".Put a dot in "Detect whenever catalyst control center is opened",and leave the other 2 spots unchecked.( I had a dot in these 2 places ). Now apply the changes and close it out. I have had no problems since doing this with the screen going blank. Not sure why this worked ,other then the computer was getting confused along the way and shut off the screen.Just be aware that if you hook your laptop to a TV you will have to revisit the ATI setting and change them back.....Hope this helps...Dan

I JUST purchased a laptop (toshiba sattelite L300D) I put the battery in, I pluged the AC...and I start it up for its first time....but nothing appears on the screen.....not even a bios or whatever...the...

I would not even touch it, if you JUST purchased it take it right back.......if your having problems with it straight out of the box its prob. not a good sign........

If you dont want to take it back , take out the battery and put it back in...plug it in and start it up again....take notice if there are any power lights on the laptop that turn on , or if there is no response from the laptop at all.....

If there are no lights it may be a problem with the ac adaptor or the power supply inside the computer.....

If there are lights and nothing on the screen then the LCD is faulty.

I need help with my key board. When I use the letter key the number comes up. Such as I push J and get 1 I push K and get 2 . How do I get back to using yhe letter. Thanks Marion

Marion, I imagine this is on your laptop? You need to turn off Number Lock. On Toshiba Laptops, I am pretty sure you hold down the "FN" key and the hit F11. That should turn off your Number Lock. If you look closely at your keyboard, you will see that J corresponds with 1 and K corresponds with 2 and so on.

Hope this helps! Let me know!
