No the provider in Australia says that will work straight away. But many people including myself find it takes about three days to start working.

I bought my phn off ebay in australia and was told it was unlocked. i had planned to use it in new zealand. It worked fine in australia (with my new zealand sim card, telecom) but once i got to nz one...

the phone card you are using may not be compatable with the new zealand telstra. from personal expeirence in australia (lived in brisbane for three months) if you have or the other bloke has owned the phone over a year they will give you the unlock code. the other possibility is that you have accepted and installed an update over the wireless service. that will lock your phone again

Hi, my wife is using her Nokia 6700 classic overseas [currently in India] [we live in Australia]. We set up international roaming, which was working for the first few days of her trip. But, after a few...

Hi there Glen,

Here are few suggestions:

1. If this is a Prepaid sim, make sure your wife has enough load on the sim. Sometimes, even if you still have a few loads left, these networks does not process the text message especially for roaming sims. So let your wife load a new prepaid card.

2. Make sure your wife's phone is configured with the correct SMS Message Center. Ask Optus about it and have your wife double check on her phone's Message center setting.

3. If this is a postpaid, and that your phone can still call you from India to Australia, and that the suggestion in no. 2 was checked, then by all means, the problem is with Optus, considering that SMS sending was working days ago with your wife.

Please let me know if this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

If your fone has a blacklist feature which can be found in:

Settings > Call > Blacklist..

1). Enter the international code or the plus sign..
e.g "+" or "00"-Australia,New Zealand.

2). Enter country code.
e.g "61X"-Australia, "64X"-New Zealand.

3). Enter mobile number.

Activate this feature and you should be fine.
