Question about GE Profile Harmony DPGT750GC Gas Dryer
When I go to twist the start switch nothing happens, I call a appliance repair place and they said it could be a fuse. Were are these fuses located at, and how hard is it to repair this?
Some GE dryers use a non-resettable thermal fuse. It is a dime sized object with two wires attached on the top of the element housing. (Unplug dryer, take screws out or push in clips holding dryer top down at the front of the dryer top, swing top back, see thermal fuse near very back) Newer dryers use an automatic resetting thermal fuse. The replacement part for either will be the same auto resetting one. Your problem could be several other spots, however. Check for 240 volts at dryer. (not just 120) When you swing that top up, make sure the belt is there going around the drum. (if belt broke, it switches off power on most dryers) Could be a door switch, internal motor switch, timer contacts, bad start switch, burnt off / broken wire, maybe just a stripped over start knob.
If you find that the thermal fuse was the problem, you still should clean out the vent and eliminate all or as much flex duct as possible to prevent the thermal fuse from tripping again.
