the same thing happend to me you need a new lamp. Your lamp burned out you can buy a new one at a electronic parts store or find it online or call the tv company and see if you can buy one dont turn it on any more, it could be bad for the tv.
All projection TVs for Samsungare DLP TVs, with that in mind these TVs have a lamp inside that produces whitelight. The color wheel is the one in charge of giving color to that light. Regularlythe color wheel last between 2 to 5 years depending on the daily tv use. Most ofthe time when the central barring of the wheel is loose, unstable, or out ofplace it will cause the edge of the wheel to make contact with the housing, producing that whining, whirling, screeching or hissing sound. These sounds can either produce just a annoyingsound when watching tv or can cause the tv to shut off. When this happens you’llhave to replace it, if you want to know where to buy, you can look in ebay, there are many parts you can get at very good bargains, the only thing is thatyou buy at a high risk of the part not working ( I had a bad experience). The otheroption is to buy at an electronics store online dedicated at selling tv parts, some can help you trouble shoot your problem and others may have tech support overthe phone (personal recommendation: Discount-Merchant.com ). And last rememberto search your part by part number, NOT by model number, two TVs with samemodel numbers but assembled on different dates ( different generation TVs )will have none compatible tv parts inside, so be very carful.
If you ordered it directly from sony then i would be concerned and contact the to have it replaced under warranty. If you did not get it directly from sony I would expect it is a rebuilt lamp or you purchased just the lamp part instead of the whole cartridge and installed it into the carttridge yourself. The lamp is designed to be replaced as a cartridge . The smell is probly a lamp that is burning the wires on the back side of the lamp because it is incorrectly inserted and the wires are touching the glass. Just a couple times i have seen a lamp that will smell slightly as the plastic and insulation heats up for the first time. But it only smells a little for like a day.
hi moma. the problem is that you need a new lamp for your tv...mind just went out a week ago and that is what i had to do go to a tv repair man tell them what kind of tv make sure you have model and serial no. plus lamp type,,, you will find that on the side or back of you tv on the left hand side as you are looking at the screen... hope this helps.
Hi...maybe I can help. Go back in and make sure your lamp is connected to the ballast. If it is not all the way in, it will smell like it is burning. Sometime it will even burn out you lamp and or ballast too. Good luck
Did you have color problems in past? Most of these sets have convergence problems. Amps goes out. But you should have seen some type of distortion from color, red, blue, green. If no color problems then maybe vertical ouput out or horizontal output bad.
