Updates cannot be downloaded on C drive due to lack of space

My O.S - Vista Ultimate is installed in the C drive. Naturally the Windows automatic updates gets downloaded in the C drive. Today I find the C drive space (30 GB) is full. So the vital updates cannot be downloaded in the C drive due to lack of space. I have 70 GB free space in the D drive. How do I configure the drives so that I am able to download the updates normally on my computer?

You will have to un install programmes from C to make space..you cannot configure the drives to enable updates to be installed somewhere else as they should be part of the default location ie; C

How to download a new internet explorer for windows vista ultimate

Hi uymanuel11

UPGRADING TO LATEST VERSION OF INTERNET EXPLORER WITH WINDOWS 7

If you have Automatic Updates enabled, once you are connected to the internet, your computer will automatically download the very latest version of Internet Explorer (this is currently IE9) to your computer during one of the early Automatic Updates downloads and will continue to automatically upgrade it as new versions are launched in future.

You can also go to the official Microsoft IE Downloads and Support website and manually download and install your chosen version of Internet Explorer from there at:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-9/worldwide-languages

I hope this helps.

Can't check for updates, error code 0x80240022

Error: 0X80240022
Try this,

1. From Windows Updates to: "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them", Set it back to: "Install updates automatically (recommended)" , restart PC, and try to update your windows.

I keep getting the same updates for Vista

If you don't want your computer to recieved updates that it's very annoying then Turn-off automatic system Updates. To do it just follow the instructions below:

Step 1 Click the "Start" button on the taskbar or press the "Windows Key" on your key board (located to the right of the Ctrl Key and left of the Alt Key)
  • Step 2 In the search box enter the words "Windows Update" without the quotes you can copy the text directly from this page to make it easier.
  • Step 3 On the left side of the window that opens it will have a list of options click on the option labeled "Change Settings".
  • Step 4 After that you will have to make some choices. If you select "Install update Automatically" then you simply pick a time that is good for you and your computer will download the updates and install them when you are not on your computer. If you select "Download updates but let me install them" then you will download updates in the background while you are using your computer and then will ask you are the files are downloaded if you are ready to install them. If you decide to select "Never Check For Updates" then your computer will never download or install updates.
  • Step 5 If you select "Never Check For Updates" then it is highly recommend that you open "Internet Explorer" and visit "http://update.microsoft.com" at least once a month and install any updates that are labeled critical.

It Says "Installing Updates" but never shuts down

If you are updating windows xp and it says installing updates when you are shutting down your computer, you should let it finish, even if it tales overnight. depenind on how many updates you have, better to go to the updates web site and do it from there. after they have installed then you should be able to do a restart on your computer and compleate. Any thing ells you are best off contacting MicroSoft

Failure to install due to system requirement.

    Make sure you have:
    • Enough hard disk space to cover the system requirements and still have at least 5GB left empty on your hard drive.
    • Enough RAM to meet the requirements.
    • The correct operating system.
If your system meets these requirements, then go ahead and attempt to install it. Worst case is that either it won't install or it will run slowly (but will still run).

If your hard disk is left with only 5GB, then eventually you might run into other problems due to lack of space (as the disk continues to fill up), but that's a problem you can solve later by either deleting files or upgrading. Going ahead and installing the software now will at least let you use it in the meantime, even if it slows down the computer some.
