Technics SL-BD22 Turntable Motor

Hello

I was reading a post you made in response to another person in September of 2007 regarding their turntable running slowly. I have the same model as this person and you suggested that it could be the belt or the motor. My Turntable started running very slowly or not at all and when I removed the belt from the pulley, the motor would barely move if at all and I could stop it with my fingers with just a light touch. I took it off of the circuit board and brought it to work to have a guy that works with me test it and he said it had 19.6 Ohms of resistance. Well, since I didn't know what it was supposed to be, this did me no good. So, when I got back home and re-connected it to the circuit board, it started working again. But, a few weeks later, it started acting up and it's doing the same thing. I was trying to play my vinyl and it just started slowing down again and is doing exactly the same thing it was the first time. I noticed that you gave this other person descriptions and part #'s for the belt and the motor and prices to replace these 2 items. I was wondering if you could tell me how I could get myself a new motor for my Technics SL-BD22 Turntable?? I'm sure it's the motor because the belt was removed from the motor and it still would run slow or not at all plus, I have a new belt for it if the old one goes bad. Any help you can provide me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately there are no parts available for your model, with the exception of the belt. Everything has been discontinued.

If it started working good after you reconnected it, then maybe the problem might be a loose connection, or a resistor that might not be working properly, which can be checked by any competent service technician. Resistors are generic components, so as long as it is the correct rating, your technician will be able to replace it. However, the motor, is a different story. Unless you find the exact same turntable and strip it for parts. If the resistors are good, then more than likely the motor is just dying, and again, this is no longer available.

Wish I could be of more help.

How do i install a belt on technics turntable sl-bd22

If you remove the rubber pad, you should be able to grasp the metal table. A gentle tap onto the center spindle while pulling up on the table should release the table. Place the new belt onto the underside of the table. Replace the table onto the spindle. Then feed the belt over the motor hub.

How do I remove the platter on a sl-bd22 Technics turntable?

You will have to lift off the cloth on the platter section to expose two rather large holes in the plattr. Insert your thumb and forefinger, and pull up.

How to replace drive belt for model.# SL-BD22 ?

Nope, very simple...

1) Remove the platter - just lift up
2) Underneath the platter, you'll see a small lip section
3) Wrap the belt around this lip
4) Put platter back on turntable
5) Rotate platter until you see the motor shaft through the holes on the platter - a brass round looking piece
6) Pinch the belt around the motor shaft.
7) That's it.

Technics SL-BD22 Turntable Motor

Panasonic has always been the parent company of Technics. The Technics line was developed by Panasonic (aka Matsushita Electric) back in 1965. Today, the only the DJ arm of the Technics brand survives. The consumer Technics line (like your turntable) have all been discontinued about 10 years ago.

As for the motor, if Panasonic says they have it, grab it. Part number I show for it - #SDMB5E - $19.99

Turntable grinds to a halt.

The Technics SL-BD22 is a belt driven turntable. It is most likely possible that the belt wore off, wore down, or could have spun off. The platter should have 2 holes in it. One of them should alow you to see, and replace the belt. YOu can lift the platter off the turntable via those two holes. MAKE SURE IT IS TURNED OFF AND UNPLUGGED......

You can find a replacement @

http://1200s.com/Store/PARTS-TECHNICS-TURNTABLES-Drive_Belts/c271_272_278_398/index.html

And the part should come with instructions. Those guys are very thorough.

Keep me posted.
