Tangled bobbin thread

I am just doing straight sewing...not embroidery. The problem started with birdnesting. I have checked top thread tension, tried to adjust the bobbin tension, changed threads, needles and fabric types. Now, I don't even get to the birdnesting. The thread bunches up around the bobbin casing and I have to cut it to be able to remove the fabric. It is as if something is catching the thread between the bobbin case and the racing mechanism. When I try to slowly watch what is happening by lowering the needle by hand, and with the face plate off, it looks as if the thread is pulling the bobbin case out of position. Help, please! I am in Belize and cannot get to a repair shop.

I had a problem with a needle jam recently--safety mechanism engaged. Turned the machine off, removed needle and replaced with new needle. Wouldn't pull up bobbin thread after that. We removed the bobbin case, inspected, and there was a big chip in the plastic. Replaced the bobbin case with "generic" bobbin case guaranteed to fit my Brother HE-120. Now still can't get machine to pull up bobbin thread. Tried to pull it up manually, according to directions in my Brother manual, but that didn't work either. I really don't want to take it to repair because the machine probably not even worth the bench charge but neither can I afford a new one. Help Please!!! Thanks

When I open the slide plate and turn the Hand wheel there is nothing moving around the bobbin, shouldn't there be something moveing in there?

Check the bobbin and make sure it is the right size. When you insert the bobbin the thread has to go behind the metal plate (tension). The thread should be able to pull out with a small amount of tension. If it is too high you need to loosen it. That is a small screw on the bobbin carrier. The bobbin should be rotating counter clockwise. When you pull there shouldn't be any snags. It should be able to be pulled with only a bit of resistance; not snags. Once this is corrected adjust the top tension to three and try your machine. You may need to adjust the top tension slightly but it should work very good.

Okay. I had this problem too. try taking the bobbin casing out. I had a bit of thread lintg caught in a remote area of the under-plate area. Blow it out with canned air and oil your machine. That should help. It fixed mine.

Make sure you are using the right bobbin - light blue tint and slightly domed, make sure you are using bobbin thread, floss thread through the thread guides, make sure the thread goes behind the metal bar immediately after it comes out of the thread guide before it goes into the wire loop and needle.

Where to apply oil to shuttle on White model 2037. I thoroughly cleaned all parts of the machine, rewound bobbins, made sure presser foot was up and rethreaded machine, still getting birdnesting under

If the birdnesting is on the bottom of fabric it is the top tension. If the birdnesting is in the bobbin area I would check the bobbin tension. When adjusting the bobbin tension make sure you are turning the screw in very tiny increments.

Check to make sure the machine is threaded properly and then check again. It is often times something simple.

I have a singer prelude sewing machine - the thread started binding from the bobbin up - there were about 50 threads pierced through my test patch.

what you describe is thread bunching and is typical of the needle thread tension being too loose
adjust that right up, run a test sew and go from there

Have a Singer 11910000A and the bobber thread bunches up and makes a mess in the feet when sewing

Is it really the bobbin thread that is globbing? Check closely. Usually it is the upper thread accumulating under the fabric.

If it is in fact the bobbin thread, then the bobbin case is not threaded correctly, the bobbin case tension needs adjustment, or it is broken and needs replacement. There are web sites and YouTube videos that show how to adjust the bobbin case tension.

QUICK FIXES: Remove all the thread from the machine. Clean the area around the feed dogs and bobbin area. Oil as instructed in the owner's manual using ONLY fresh, good quality sewing machine oil (only 1-2 drops each spot). Install a brand new needle insuring it is installed correctly. Avoid using fuzzy, old, or bargain bin thread. Rethread: Be sure you raise the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread so it will seat properly in the tension disk--and check to make sure you are threading the machine correctly. Check that the upper tension is set properly (the factory standard is usually the halfway point between the high & low number on the selection). Test on a scrap of the fabric you wish to sew. Adjust the upper tension--either tighten to pull the upper thread toward the top of the fabric, or loosen to pull more upper thread down.

The thread is birdnestting where the bobbin is

Birdnesting can be corrected by adjusting the bobbin tension lower. You need to check for threads stuck in the bobbin tension and clean them out. The thread should feed out of the bobbin tension with a small amount of tension. Make sure your bobbin is rotating the right direction; probably counter clockwise. Adjust the top to three and give it a try. You may need to make a small adjustment on the top tension. Your goal is to have the bottom and top tension equal just like a tug of war.

My bobbin thread keeps coming to the top of my fabric during embroidering on my Singer Futura CE350, I've tried bobbin embroidery thread, regular embroidery thread and clear nylon thread, I've tried...

With the embroidering, some of the bobbin thread is SUPPOSED to show on the top of your embroidery-the machine isn't doing anything incorrectly. You'll need to thread your bobbin with the same thread as you are using with the top. I had the same "problem" when I first got the machine and took it to a wonderful local technician whose helped me with a lot of things who informed me that this is perfectly normal on embroidery machines.

"Birdnesting" occurs when there is no tension on the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. This is easily corrected by rethreading the machine, following the threading path carefully and making sure the thread is fully engaged in the tension mechanism.

Viking Designer 1 balleds / Birdnest / issues after repaired from Husk service center in midwest - replaced thread needle and adjusted tension .. freequilting and embroidery situations

birdsnest refers to a mess of thread on the underside of fabric when you start sewing (after a few stitches all looks good). if this is the case and it is happening during embroidery, switch off jump stitch thread cutting.

if it happens at the start of normal sewing, either hold your needle thread when you start sewing or make sure the needle thread is under the presser foot and held by the presser foot when you start sewing. this way you will have an inch or so of thread on top of your fabric which you can trim instead of a mess underneath.

if there is a mess underneath for more than first few stitches, either your check spring in the needle tension area is set incorrectly, or your needle tension is set too loose (adjustable in sevice menu by tech only) or there is foreign matter caught in tension assembly preventing proper tension.
