Question about Vizio 42 in. LCD TV

After turning on the 42" Vizio, the sound turns off

The sound lasts about 10 seconds when first turned on, we have only had it 1 week. We have to turn the tv off and then back on, which takes some time, then the sound is okay. Sometimes the tv shuts off by itself.

    We had Fios TV (Verizon) installed yesterday. Up to that point we were not having an issue with the TV. The tech seemed very knowledgable but the sound on the TV went to 0. He called Vizio and they said to use LG codes which fixed the problem for awhile. We unpluged the Fios box from the tv. Using the Vizio remote to get to the setup menu it bounces from the audio to visual to setup. When you press the sound it goes back and forth from 01. We only purchased this TV in August.

One week old? did you ever think about taking it back to the store where you bought it?? would be my first choice. unless you want a bunch of crazy answers or taking it to an authorized repair shop and waiting a few months for parts to come in and more time for the repair to take place.

1. pull battery from remote for 10 seconds. This will force reboot of remote. test, if fail move ahead,

Three weeks ago purchased a Vizio xvt423sv 42".
There are lots of problems. The best thing to do is have it replaced completely while under warranty.

Vizio VX42L LCD TV died?
it is the power supply. in the given scenario like yours, the PSU is the suspect in 90% of the cases.

No Screen or sound
there are two possibilities to this problem. First and cheapest way is to replace the main board. Second, replace the inverter board. This is the boards that are mounted vertically on both sides of the TV.

Toshiba Regza C3030 sound but no picture
IThe back;light is not working corectley if it is under warranty it should be returned, if it is a 32/42 C3030 it is an old model in the UK other countries may use different model numbers

Vizio VO42LFHDTV10A. VIZIO name lights up amber/orange on the front of the set. Pressing the power button on the set, does nothing. No click, Vizio does NOT change from amber/orange to white. Googling this suggested Power Supply. I replaced it and still have the same problem. Could you point me in the right direction on which part I should test/replace? I can't tell you if it popped or anything when it went out, because no one was in the room at the time. I'm thinking it's the main board. This model is noted for the bad caps problem. "This was fixed by replacing the Main Board."

Two non-hidef get 50+ channels on antenna scan. The Vizio gets about 15. I can't get two local channels we want. Vizio said that since their tv is hidef, it needs stronger signal than the older tvs. We use new rca outdoor antenna. Any comments would be appreciated. I already got approval from Vizio to return the set. Hate to do it since it is great when on cable. But as I mentioned, with no config. change at all between TV's, when Plugged into the antenna coax, the Vizio gets 15 or so channels, and our older non-hidef models get over 50.
