Question about Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5874 Laptop

I dropped my laptop and now the screen is messed up, with only the top left corner being able to see what's going on with my laptop. none of the actual stuff in my laptop is damaged, just the screen. Should I seek repair or what?

Sounds like a faulty/damaged screen. Check the machine by plugging into an external monitor before ordering a replacement screen.

Your laptop was dropped and the LCD backlight is what is lighting your screen. You need a replacement LCD screen.

Black screen, blinking cursor in top left hand corner

Could be a number of issues, incl unseated processor or a faulty hard drive. First off I would remove mains & battery, remove covers from underneath and reseat any memory or processors you can find - by reseat I mean just take out and put back.If this fails, I would look to price up a new hard drive before condemning the machine.

Ack. Sounds like you might need to replace your screen (sounds pricey but is cheaper than a new laptop). You can find second hand/refurbished screens or another Aspire with a working screen being sold for parts on Ebay or here

On a side note, if you a have a PC monitor lying around, you can access your files by hooking it up to your laptop via the dvi slot. Granted, it seems a bit ghetto but its a quick fix until you get something more permanent.

I recently broke my iPhone screen and completely shattered a dell laptop a few years ago. You know all those people who are adamant about you buying proper carrying/protective cases? Screw 'em.

Broken screen

You might find a replacement LCD screen on EBay.
Failing that you can connect your laptop to an external monitor, of course you would be desk bound.
