Use the reset button so it goes back to the factory preset code , and then look up the code in the Manual

What is EC code in kenwood a.c ?

  1. If your car battery died, your Kenwood stereo will ask you for a code. There are various ways to enter the security code; this depends on the model of your Kenwood stereo.
  2. Look in your manual and see what the security code is for your particular Kenwood stereo. There are common security codes on many Kenwood stereos. Kenwood claims security, but its stereos have many of the same security codes. Here are three common security codes: 1-2-3-4 (a code many Kenwood owners use), 3-0-5-1 (a common security code in Kenwood manuals) and KCAR (works on some Kenwood stereo models). You should have a code within the pages of your manual. Luckily, many Kenwood stereos have the same security codes.
  3. Enter the security code into your Kenwood radio. Method #1: During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the "Volume UP" or "DOWN" key for three seconds until the " ... " display disappears. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Method #2: Press the "Auto" and "Track Up" button on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Method #3: Press and hold the "One" then the "Six" preset keys until the display shows the letter "C." Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
  4. Tips:
  • If you did not have your manual, try the most common codes for Kenwood stereos. If those codes don't work, you can also buy your Kenwood stereo code online. There are places online that will sell you the security code to your Kenwood stereo.
  • Keep your security code and this information in a safe place.

My Kenwood car radio needs a code ,model for my car radio is. Dpx7021mpg

A number of Kenwood stereos are sold which use the same security code. Some of the most commonly encountered codes are:
1234 - Not a factory default, but a commonly found security code when attempting to figure out the code for a Kenwood radio purchased second or third-hand.
3051 - Security code included in a number of Kenwood radio manuals.
KCAR - A common Kenwood model security code that has been found to work across a number of models of the stereo

Need the security code for kenwood 5024

In order for you to get the security code you will have to contact Kenwood and pay a charge of £10. You will need a copy of the receipt OR your driving license, the model number and your name, address and contact number so you can be contacted for payment.

If you bought the stereo before 2009 use this page.
If you bought it during or after 2009 then use this one.

My system is blocked on secuirity code enter when i switch it on and i don't have the code. My car stereo is a Kenwood KDC-MP638U. happened when i removed it from one car to another car. have tried using...

Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:

  • KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
  • 3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
  • 1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
A Security Code Bug in Some Kenwoods

There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.
Finding the Kenwood Security Code

There are backdoor codes for each Kenwood car stereo, based upon the model and the serial numbers.

These backdoor codes are closely held secrets. Outfits like Car Audio Accessories UK will sell you the code for your radio for £20.
Sending your RadioBack to Kenwood

If all else fails, you can send your stereo back to Kenwood to have the security code reset.

Security code Lockout

I had a similar issue with a head unit in a newer Volkswagen. There was an unlock code burried in the vehicle's owners's manual.

Since your stero is an aftermarket model, I would bet the unlock code is in the manual for the head unit.

Forgot my code.

How do I Reset a Kenwood Security Code? Kenwood car stereos are protected against theft by four digit security codes. If a thief steals a Kenwood car stereo, they will not be able to use the stereo until they enter the secret for digit security code. Unfortunately, many legitimate owners are also locked out of their Kenwood car stereos due to these security codes. This typically happens to people who buy used cars from people who forget to share the security code. However, it also happens to people who simply forget their security codes after several years. Common Kenwood Security Codes Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes: KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models. 3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models. 1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners. Entering Your Kenwood Security Code If the car battery fails or is disconnected, the Kenwood will ask for the security code. The procedure to enter your security code differs on various models of Kenwood car stereos. Here are three of the more common procedures: Type 1 During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds until the "..." display disappears. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Type 2 Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Type 3: Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030 Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset keys until the display shows the letter 'C'. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Entering Letters on your Kenwood Remote To enter a letter using your Kenwood remote, press a button once for the first letter, twice for the second letter, and three times for the third letter -- then press the Track Up or Next Track key to send the letter. To send the letter 'A', press the 2 key once and then press the Track Up key. To send the letter 'B', press the 2 key twice and then press the Track up key. Finally, when you are done entering all of the letters, press and hold the Track Up button for 3 seconds. The key sequence to enter the security code KCAR is: 5 5 Track Up 2 2 2 Track Up 2 Track Up 7 7 Track Up Your Kenwood should then enter tuner mode. A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code. In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one.
