I took my ps3 to my cousins house who has an HD tv with a HD wire. But once I took it back to my regular tv it didn't work. The screen was black. Please help me.

I had this same problem myself, and it's simple to fix. First, make sure to power off your OS3. The only light should be the red "Standby Mode" light. Now, press and hold the power button until you hear a beep, and the wait a moment. The console should start outputting to your TV again.

The problem your having is the video settings. Once the PS3 was set to output to HDMI, that's all it's outputting to. It can't tell when there is an RCA connection (those red white and yellow connectors), only when there is a new HDMI. Next time you go to your friends, just make sure to into the settings and choose the RCA video output before you disconnect from his TV and go home, then you shouldn't have any problems.

Here are the Sony instructions for this process.

My ps3 was working fine four days ago. I took it to my brother-in-laws two nights ago and hooked it up. We played it on his tv with an xbox hdmi cord and it was fine. I took it home and plugged it up to...

Ok you must be using a a/v cable at your house? And the hdmi cable at your brother in laws? If this is the problem its not the xbox hdmi cable. It doesnt matter all hdmi cables work the same. Its your settings. You need to hold you power button down and it should come on and beep twice then release it and a settings menu should pop up if it doesnt hold the power button down until it comes on and shuts off then hold the power button down again until it beeps twice. Hope this helps.

Go to display settings and you must change the video output manually to 480 or less.

Unable to use PS3 on HD channel

1. Connect PS3 to your TV
2. Select the Correct HDMI input on your TV
3. Press and hold the [power] button on the PS3
4. perform setup.

These are the steps to setup the video output for the PS3, It is possible that it is set to a resolution that your TV does not support.

If this doesn't work, you may want to contact Sanyo to ask if they have some protection circuit for the HDMI input. Some manufactures TV's will deactivate(turn OFF) the HDMI input under certain conditions. Unplugging the TV or some other procedure usually turns it back ON.

PS3 Scart / HD

Turn it off with the "hard" switch in the back. Then turn it back on with the switch while pressing the power button on the front for 10 secs, this should reset your display settings.

Ps3 wont show or load games

If you originally set up the PS3 with A,V cables it won't work on HDMI even if you set it up to and visa versa. There is a work around but you will have to call tech support. Here is a link at Sony's PS3 tech support that may help also. http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=263

PS3 - HDMI to SD change issues

While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.Good Luck!
