Dell mouse - optical - erratic

The mouse clicks "too much". For example, if I click to close an e-mail message, the message closes but the program as well.

I should have mentioned that I had tried what you suggested.

It is possible that the mouse is simply failing and is in its death throes.

    Thank you for your help.

Hasn't anybody noticed that this erratic mouse problem is almost exclusively a Dell mouse?

Sure could be failing. The prices are so low on these now that you wouldn't be out much if you replaced it and it still did it. At least you would know one way or the other.

You may have the double click in a single click selection checked in the mouse option in control panel or your mouse software. Start/Control Panel/Mouse. You can also try to slow your double click speed in these windows as well.

When trying to read an e-mail with an attachment using meadia player I get a message that the memory is low and to close programs and retry. What programs would I close? Compaq Presario

save the attachment to your desktop then try opening it that way. If you still get the error message try the steps below
Click start
Click Control Panel
Click System Icon
Click Advance Tab
Under the performance category click the settings button increase your virtual memory by 75 - 150 click apply then click ok close that dialog box and try opening email attachments again again. Hopefully you restart the computer occasionally. If not try reboot also.

Is your back button stuck under the left click button? Mine did this, simply pry up on the let click button and it will release.
