Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Is it possible for somebody else to control my sky plus box? I am sat here watching the menus being apparently browsed then selecting a program and then switching my sky box off and back on again. If I try to use my own control it works fine for a while then once I am watching something the same thing happens again. No apparent pattern to the actions.

When someone is speaking the words also appear on screen. How do I stop this from happening?

The closed captioning is on. If the source is OTA, you can turn it off with the remote (a button marked CC, press it until it reads CC OFF) or the On-screen Display (probably Options or Tools). This also applies to some satellite or cable systems. With satellite and some cable boxes, the captions can also be controlled by the box. The remote for the box may have a CC button. Otherwise, you'll need to go through the menus to turn it off. (I know with Dish Network boxes, if the system is set to single (rather than dual) mode, both TVs will show the captions if it is enabled.

Similarly, DVDs, VCRs, and Blu-ray inputs may have their own captions and you might need to see the remote (or menus) for that device.

I hope this helps.

RECENTY PURCHASED SECOND HAND TV WITHOUT REMOTE OR HANDBOOK CANNOT SEEM TO SET UP MY SKY BOX TO IT ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Does the S/H TV have AV1 & AV2 settings and a scart socket? If so just connect the a scart lead from Sky box to TV and select AV1.

If you have no scart socket on the TV you need to connect a coaxial (aerial) cable from the sky box to TV and tune in to a channel. It is possible to tune in your sky remote if you have the TV code.

Please remember to rate this solution.

Flashing Picture

Possible bad lamp, ballast, or cablebox/sat box. First does it do this on all inputs? If so its in the tv. If it only does it on you cable box or sat box then its the box most likley. If its in the tv the most common problem to cause this is a weak lamp. other than the lamp the only thing i have seen is the ballast. Good luck let me know if you need anything else

Thank you

My solution was to return item to Argos, got my money back and will now go ahead and order a Sky Plus Box. Apparently these type of Recorder will not record Sky programs!!

Have moved my Sky to another room. Cut existing sat cables and extended to new location. Can watch all stations OK. Can record OK. When recording I can't watch any other station. Any ideas what I've...

Originally used pre made "F" connector to "F" connector cables from B and Q.

Have changed above cables to the thicker black ones - same size as comes of sat dish.

This solved the problem - suspect attenuation problem by using inferior cables.
