Did you try to boot to safe mode? Restart the unit, hit F8 key several times as it starts to boot. You will see a menu come up. Select Safe Mode . Let it boot. You will get the password screen. see if you can type the PWD there. Let me know.

Restart the computer and Tap F8 to boot to safe mode. Once you see the options, then use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode and hit enter. Once you are inside safe mode, then do the system restore from there.

Click on start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore

Select a restoration point and launch it.

If you can't go to safe mode, please drop me a line and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

How to ouse the mouse?

The mouse is used by people to navigate around the operating system like Windows.

There are a number of buttons on the mouse, Left Click, Right Click, Scroll Wheel and Wheel Click.

Your index finger operates the Left Click and you middle finger operates the Right Click and Scroll Wheel.

The mouse, when moved in turn moves whats known as a cursor on the screen, it's that arrow.

Think of the cursor as your pointing finger.

Hope that helps!

Dell Dimension 5150 (& WinXP) - failure to boot up

you could try booting into safe mode, then you could try a system restore
look for the F8 option at the bottom after the first boot window,

youll know youve got it when you get the option to boot into safe mode, if this works you should get to your desktop, if you get the admin login its normally admin as user and leave the password blank.

if you cant get into safe mode, wait till you gt the recovery disks and try a system recovery before reinstalling

There are 2 steps you can do to fix the problem

1. Change the USB Emulation Setting in the BIOS
NOTE: It is recommended to disconnect any USB devices before performing the following steps.
Restart the system.
Wait until the Dell Logo appears.
At the Dell Logo screen, press F2 right away to enter the System Setup.
The System Setup screen will appear.
Press the down arrow key to highlight Integrated Devices (LegacySelect Options).
Press Enter.
A small box with a list of devices appears in the middle of the screen.
Press the down arrow key to highlight USB Emulation.
The default setting is On.
Press the Space Bar on your keyboard to change the setting to No Boot.
Press the Esc key.
The small box disappears.
Press the Esc key again.
A small box with list of options appears in the middle of the screen.
Make sure that Save Changes and Exit is highlighted in blue.
Press Enter.
The system will then restart.
The recommended changes have now been made to the BIOS.

Forgot the password to my account

If you can remember the password to your Administrator account then load the computer up into safe mode:
To get in safe mode-
Turn On your computer. The first screen will be the memory test or the BIOS logo is displayed. After the page finishes, you'll see the Startup options listed. Select the Operating System which you want to start, and Press F8 key Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the Safe mode menu item, and then press Enter.

Once you're in safe mode, log onto the Admins account (it should be then listed if not don't worry) - if you can get on then just create a new Windows account with Administrator privileges if you can't, read on..

Another way is to do a System Restore to before you made an account on Windows, then make another IF NONE OF THIS WORKS, Ophcrack is your best bet, follow the instructions when you search it up.

Reformat your computer if all hope is lost.

Cursor stuck in middle of screen

If you are using an external mouse, unplug it and see if it will go with the pad.If it works with the pad then its the exteranal mouse.
If you are using the pad you may have to replace the pad or recalibrate it using the pointer device, you can use the tab key to go through to the start menu then use the arrow keys to go to control panel.
Hope this helps
