Canon SD1300 memory card locked

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. But, if you've checked the slide switch, the internal switch in the card slot may be jammed by a grain of sand or gunk. Here are troubleshooting steps for this problem. Recommend the toothpick fix for your particular problem.

Take a look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

No more storage and always get a massege that the card is locked cant delte or format

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge that physically protects the card from writing. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting its contents. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, try sliding it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

Whenever take picture 'memory card locked' message on the display

In case it uses the SD card, then there is a lock feature in the card. You will need to unlock the card so that it becomes read/write enabled. In lock position, it is read only, so you can read the files from it but cannot create any more files.

Most SD cards have a switch on the edge of one side of the card. Sliding it up or down will unlock or lock the card. When the card is locked, you will not be able to transfer any audio tracks. Nor will you be able to play any copy protected files. We recommend you always keep the card unlocked.

Are you sure that the lock / unlock tab isn't getting moved to the lock position when inserted AND then moved back to the unlock position when removed? Stranger things have happened.

Some cards have lock / unlock tabs that are so flimsy that it seems that you can "will" them to move. Try placing a small amount of tape in such a way that the tab is prevented from moving (if you never use the lock feature like me, you could use a drop of glue instead of tape). You might have to remove some excess tape in order to slip it back into the camera if the slot is "tight".

If still unable to write to the card in the camera, but can when in a card reader - the problem could be in the camera. The next logical step would be to try a different card. If the new card fails in the camera but not the card reader; the camera probably needs to be sent out for repair.

I hope this helps - and good luck!
