Cant move cursor cant enter password

make sure the lead from the mouse has a secure seating and the lead is not bad/faulty or you might have to uninstall the drivers then reinstall the drivers
control panel mouse you should see 4 tabs buttons, pointers, pointer options and hardware under hardware you can troubleshoot or select properties under driver you can update driver, rollback driver or uninstall and under hardware you can troubleshoot
in xp or
you might have to many programs loading at start up or you might have a virus run your antivirus program then
try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
as for the mouse if the first things i mentioned that you do does not fix control panel mouse you can speed up the mouse and under pointer options you can also speed up the pointer
hope this helps

If there is no activity when you power up then it could be the CPU.
Remove the CPU and check the CPU to see if you have not bent any pins. The CPU can only be installed in one position.
The CPU when removed usually sticks to the heatsink.
The CPU should be removed off the heatsink.
The CPU is locked onto the CPU chip holder, lift the locking level up to release the CPU or there may be a locking screw instead of a lever. Turn the screw anti-clockwise to release the CPU lock.
Insert the CPU in the chip holder and lock the CPU in place. If it a screw lock then turn the screw clockwise to lock the CPU in place.
Smear some fresh heat sink compound on the CPU and heatsink and place and then lock the heatsink in place.

Have you any virus protection on the PC? Viruses and malware will cause what you see. Also, check the task manager to see what programs and processes are running, and look for one that is hogging the CPU. Also, if running out of hard disk space, the virtual memory swap will do the same thing.

Computer freezes after about 30 minutes

hi, what happened that made it start behaving this way? check that the bios settings are correct, also after post hold down the f5 key-this will give you the option to get in safe mode, from there you can troubleshoot much better. try and remember what caused the problem. you can try a system restore.there are many reasons why the condition of lock up will happen, sounds like a power management issue, or overheat, or just a software issue. does it lock up while it is in use or just sitting with the screen saver? also check and see if it runs hot. if you need further assistance reply. good luck!

Screen saver does not kick

If Preview works but it does not kick in by itself than probably another app is running in the background which is stopping it (it does not detect that it is idle).  It could also me that your mouse is causing the cursor to move slightly or maybe desk vibration - try turning mouse upside down and then set timeout for 1 minute as see if that works.

Hooking up keyboard and mouse

... Well, first things first, are your keyboard and mouse USB or PS/2? Chances are if it's a really old computer it doesn't have any USB ports. You would then need either 2 USB to PS/2 adapter (typically small green and purple adapters) or PS/2 keyboard and mouse.

Hope this helps!
